Psalms 19

1 The heavens [the visible sky and the universe] declare [proclaim, show forth] the glory [majesty, divine nature] of God [the Almighty, Creator]; the skies [the firmament, expanse] proclaim [make known, reveal] the work [handywork, creation] of His hands [divine power, sovereign action]. word study 2 Day after day [unceasingly, continually] they pour forth [utter, declare] speech [a message, declaration]; night after night [without interruption, constantly] they reveal [show, make known] knowledge [insight, understanding]. word study 3 Without [no] speech [nor a sound] or language [words to be spoken], without [nor] a sound [voice, utterance] to be heard [perceived, understood], word study 4 their voice [sound, utterance] has gone out into all the earth [the whole world, every nation], their words [messages, declarations] to the ends of the world [the most distant places]. In the heavens [the sky, the celestial realm] He has pitched [set, established] a tent [dwelling place, tabernacle] for the sun [the celestial body]. word study 5 Like a bridegroom [emerging from his wedding chamber, as a newly married man] emerging from his chamber [his bride-tent], like a champion [a strong man, a fit athlete] rejoicing [happy, eager] to run his course [a race, his path], word study 6 it rises [from the end of the heavens] at one end of the heavens [the visible sky] and runs [or circles, makes its circuit] its circuit [or path, way] to the other; nothing [no thing, none] is deprived [or hidden, hid] of its warmth [heat, heat thereof]. word study 7 The Law [perfect, complete, and trustworthy] of the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] is perfect [flawless, complete], reviving [restoring, refreshing] the soul [the inner being, the heart]; the testimony [witness, instruction] of the LORD [the faithful God] is trustworthy [sure, reliable], making wise [giving wisdom, discernment] the simple [the inexperienced, the humble]. word study 8 The precepts [instructions, teachings] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] are right [just, upright], bringing joy [rejoicing, gladness] to the heart [soul, inner being]; the commandments [laws, decrees] of the LORD are radiant [pure, shining], giving light [enlightening, illuminating] to the eyes [understanding, insight]. word study 9 The fear [reverence, awe] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] is pure [clean, sincere, bar], enduring [standing, lasting] forever; the judgments [ordinances, precepts] of the LORD [Yehovah] are true [righteous, just], being [existing as, characterized by] altogether [completely, wholly] righteous [just, straight]. word study 10 They are more precious [valuable, highly esteemed] than gold [fine gold, pure gold], than much [an abundance of] pure [clean, refined] gold; they are sweeter [more delightful] than honey [the dripping honey], than honey [liquid honey] from the comb [honeycomb, beehive]. word study 11 By them [through these warnings and instructions] indeed Your servant [Your faithful follower, one who obeys] is warned [made conscious of danger, informed]; in keeping [obeying, following] them [these commandments, divine teachings] is great [abundant, many] reward [a valuable gift, something highly desirable]. word study 12 Who [is able to understand] can discern his own [secret, hidden] errors [faults, mistakes]? Cleanse [forgive, purify] me from my [secret, hidden] hidden faults [errors, transgressions]. word study 13 Keep Your servant [faithful follower, devoted one] also from willful [presumptuous, deliberate] sins [errors, transgressions]; may they not [let them not, do not allow them to] rule [have dominion, control] over me. Then I will be [become, remain] blameless [upright, innocent] and cleansed [made clean, purified] of great [much, severe] transgression [rebellion, wickedness]. word study 14 May the words [utterances, expressions] of my mouth and the meditation [thoughts, reflections] of my heart be pleasing [acceptable, delightful] in Your sight [presence, awareness], O LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], my Rock [stronghold, refuge] and my Redeemer [Savior, deliverer]. word study
