Psalms 36

1 An oracle [a divine message, revelation] is in my heart [innermost being, mind] regarding the transgression [sin, wickedness] of the wicked man [evil-doer, ungodly person]: There is no fear [reverence, awe] of God [the Lord, Yehovah] before his eyes [in his sight, to his knowledge]. word study 2 For his eyes [the windows of his soul] are too full of conceit [self-flattery, pride] to detect [find out, discover] or hate [abhor, despise] his own sin [transgression, rebellion against God]. word study 3 The words [iniquity and deceit] of his mouth are wicked [morally evil] and deceitful [full of lies]; he has ceased [stopped, left off] to be wise [prudent, having discernment] and well-doing [good, righteous acts]. word study 4 Even on his bed [lying down, in a state of rest] he plots [deviseth, plans] wickedness [evil, iniquity]; he sets [stationeth, commits] himself on a path [way of life] that is not [contrary to] good [righteous, pleasing to God]; he fails [does not abhor, refuses not] to reject [turn away from] evil [wickedness, trouble]. word study 5 Your [steadfast, unwavering] loving devotion [faithful love, kindness], O LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], reaches [extends, stretches] to the heavens [the sky, the highest point], Your faithfulness [trustworthiness, reliability] to the clouds [the sky, the heavens]. word study 6 Your righteousness [like the mountains of God, majestic and unshakeable] is like the highest mountains; Your judgments [a great deep, profound and unsearchable] are like the deepest sea. O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], You preserve [save and keep alive] man and beast. word study 7 How precious [excellent, of great value] is Your loving devotion [lovingkindness, faithful love], O God [Elohim, the supreme Creator], that the children of men [humanity, people] take refuge [put their trust, find protection] in the shadow [shade, shelter] of Your wings! word study 8 They feast [are abundantly satisfied, gain strength] on the abundance [fatness, wonderful food] of Your house [the temple, Your presence], and You give them drink [make them drink, cause them to drink] from Your river [stream, great blessings] of delights [pleasures, refreshing flow]. word study 9 For with You [the source of all life, the fountainhead] is the fountain [spring, well] of life [vitality, spiritual nourishment]; in Your light [divine illumination, radiant presence] we see [perceive, understand] light [truth, wisdom, spiritual insight]. word study 10 Extend Your [faithful, trustworthy] loving devotion [kindness, mercy] to those who [personally, intimately] know You, and Your [righteous, just] righteousness [uprightness, moral integrity] to the upright [those who are blameless, sincere] in heart. word study 11 Let not the foot [of pride, arrogant step] of the proud [haughty, self-exalted] come against me, nor the hand [of wickedness, evil grasp] of the wicked [unrighteous, sinful] drive me away [remove, displace]. word study 12 There the [workers of iniquity, morally wrong] evildoers [wicked, guilty of sin] lie fallen [thrust down, overthrown], thrown down [cast down, defeated] and unable [not able, shall not be able] to rise [get up, arise]. word study
