Psalms 7
BSA1 O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] my God [the supreme Creator], I take refuge [put my trust, come to for protection] in You; save me [rescue, deliver] and deliver me [set me free] from all my pursuers [those who persecute, chase me], word study 2 or they will shred [tear apart, rend] my soul [inner being, spirit] like a lion [a fierce and powerful predator] and tear me to pieces [rend, rip apart] with no one [none, no deliverer] to rescue [save, deliver] me. word study 3 O LORD [Yehovah, my divine Savior] my God [the supreme Creator], if I have done [committed, am guilty of] this, if injustice [iniquity, wrongdoing] is on my hands [in my actions, as my responsibility], word study 4 if I have rewarded [done evil to, repaid with harm] my ally [friend, one at peace with me] with evil [injustice, wrongdoing], if I have plundered [robbed, taken from] my foe [enemy, adversary] without cause [without reason, unjustly], word study 5 then may my enemy [pursuer, adversary] pursue me and overtake me; may he trample [tread down, oppress] me to the ground [earth, dust] and leave my honor [glory, reputation] in the dust [ashes, humiliation]. Selah word study 6 Arise, O LORD [the supreme God, Yehovah], in Your anger [righteous indignation]; rise up [lift Yourself, be exalted] against the fury [rage, intense anger] of my enemies [those who hate me, adversaries]. Awake, my God [Elohim, the living God], and ordain [command, decree] judgment [justice, vindication]. word study 7 Let the assembled [gathered, congregated] peoples [nations, Gentiles] gather around You; take Your seat [rule, reign] over them on high [in heaven, from Your throne]. word study 8 The LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] judges [administers judgment, governs] the peoples [nations, communities]; vindicate [judge, defend] me, O LORD [the supreme Judge], according to my righteousness [moral integrity, blamelessness] and integrity [innocence, virtue that is in me]. word study 9 Put an end [bring to a complete stop, terminate] to the evil [wickedness, malice] of the wicked [those who do wrong, evil-doers], but establish [guide, vindicate] the righteous [just, upright], O righteous [just, fair] God [Yehovah, the Lord] who searches [tries, examines] hearts [minds, inner beings] and minds [thoughts, intentions]. word study 10 My shield [defense, protection] is with God [Elohim, the supreme Protector], who saves [rescues, delivers] the upright [righteous, just] in heart [the center of emotions and thoughts, the inner being]. word study 11 God [the supreme Judge, Elohim] is a righteous [just, fair] judge and a God [having indignation, angry with the wicked] who feels indignation [is hostile to evil, has wrath] each day [every day, continually]. word study 12 If one does not [turn from sin] repent, God [Elohim, the supreme Judge] will sharpen His sword [whet, make ready for battle]; He has bent [prepared, made ready] and strung [tensioned, readied] His bow. word study 13 He has prepared [readied for use, made ready to strike] His deadly [instruments of death, lethal] weapons; He ordains [establishes, sets in order] His arrows [flaming shafts, fiery darts] with fire [to burn and destroy]. word study 14 Behold, the wicked man [travaileth with iniquity, conceives evil] travails with evil [iniquity, wickedness]; he conceives [has conceived mischief, thinks of] trouble [mischief, perverseness] and births [brings forth, gives birth to] falsehood [a lie, dishonesty]. word study 15 He has dug [made, prepared] a hole [pit, ditch] and hollowed [digged, excavated] it out; he has fallen [is fallen, come down] into a pit [ditch, hole] of his own making [which he made, that he prepared]. word study 16 His trouble [mischief, wrongdoing, violence] recoils on himself [comes back to his own head], and his violence [cruelty, violent dealing] falls on his own head [crown, pate, skull]. word study 17 I will thank [praise, give thanks to] the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] for His righteousness [justice, moral integrity] and sing praise [make music, hymns] to the name [reputation, character] of the LORD [Yehovah, the self-existent God] Most High [exalted, supreme]. word study
