Psalms 86
BSA1 Incline [bow down, stretch out] Your ear [ability to hear, listen], O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], and answer [respond, sing, make music] me, for I am [exist as, declare myself] poor [afflicted, humble, weak] and needy [in need, oppressed, requiring help]. word study 2 Preserve [keep, protect, watch over] my soul [the essence of my being, living being], for I am [truly, faithfully] godly [pious, holy, having God’s nature]. You [alone, my Lord] are my God [Elohim, the supreme One]; save [rescue, deliver] Your servant [one who serves, a slave] who trusts [has faith, confidence] in You [toward, to]. word study 3 Be merciful [show kindness, be gracious] to me, O Lord [Adonay, the reverenced God], for [because, since] I call [cry out, invoke] to You [toward, in the direction of] all [every, the whole of] day [a literal 24-hour period, a figurative space of time] long [continually, daily]. word study 4 Bring joy [rejoice, make glad] to Your servant [slave, bondservant], for to You, O Lord [Adonay, Master], I lift up [raise, exalt] my soul [living being, essence]. word study 5 For You, O Lord [Adonay, the reverenced Master], are kind [good, pleasant] and forgiving [ready to pardon, merciful], rich [abundant, plentiful] in loving devotion [kindness, mercy, lovingkindness] to all [every single one, everything] who call [cry out, pray to] on You. word study 6 Hear [give ear, listen carefully] my prayer, O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], and attend to [listen to, hearken unto] my plea [voice, sound] for mercy [supplication, earnest request]. word study 7 In the day [of trouble, time of need] of my distress [trouble, vexation] I call [cry out, send up my cry] on You, because [for, since] You answer [respond, give an answer] me. word study 8 O Lord [Adonay, the sovereign Master], there is none [no one, nothing] like You [unique, having no equal] among the gods [false deities, idols], nor any works [deeds, mighty acts] like Yours [accomplished by Your power, divine interventions]. word study 9 All [every single one, the whole] the nations [Gentile peoples, non-Hebrews] You have made [created, formed, established] will come [approach, draw near] and bow [prostrate themselves, worship] before You, O Lord [Adonai, Master], and they will glorify [honor, praise, give weight to] Your name [reputation, character, identity]. word study 10 For [because of this reason] You [as the supreme God] are great [mighty, powerful] and perform [do, accomplish] wonders [miraculous deeds, amazing things]; You alone [by Yourself, uniquely] are God [Elohim, the one true Deity]. word study 11 Teach [show, guide] me Your way [path, manner of life], O LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], that I may walk [go, proceed] in Your truth [faithfulness, stability]. Give me an undivided [united, single-minded] heart [innermost being, mind, will, and emotions], that I may fear [revere, stand in awe of] Your name [identity, honor, and character]. word study 12 I will praise [thank, glorify] You, O Lord [Adonay, my Master] my God [Elohim, the supreme Creator], with all [every part of] my heart [innermost being, mind, and emotions]; I will glorify [honor, make weighty] Your name [identity, character, and reputation] forever [always, throughout eternity]. word study 13 For great [extremely large, of immense importance] is Your loving devotion [kindness, mercy, faithful love] to me; You have delivered [rescued, saved] me from the depths [lower parts, lowest regions] of Sheol [the underworld, the grave, the place of no return]. word study 14 The arrogant [proud, presumptuous] rise against me, O God [Elohim, the supreme One]; a band [congregation, assembly] of ruthless [violent, fearsome] men seeks my life [soul, living being], with no regard [not setting Thee before them] for You. word study 15 But You, O Lord [Adonay, a title of reverence], are a compassionate [merciful and pitiful] and gracious [kind and loving] God, slow [longsuffering and patient] to anger, abounding [plenteous and abundant] in loving devotion [kindness and mercy] and faithfulness [truth and stability]. word study 16 Turn [face towards, look to] to me and have mercy [be gracious, show kindness]; grant Your strength [power, might] to Your servant [slave, bondservant]; save [rescue, deliver] the son [child, descendant] of Your maidservant [female slave, handmaid]. word study 17 Show me a sign [token, miraculous wonder] of Your goodness [pleasant, welfare], that my enemies [those who hate me] may see [behold, look upon] and be ashamed [put to shame, feel guilt]; for You, O LORD [Yehovah], have helped [aided, assisted] me and comforted [shown pity, sympathized with] me. word study
