1 Chronicles 24:9 Summary

This verse, 1 Chronicles 24:9, shows how the Levites were organized to serve God in the temple. The fifth lot fell to Malchijah and the sixth to Mijamin, which means they were assigned specific duties and responsibilities. This reminds us that God has a plan for each of us, just like He had a plan for the Levites, as seen in Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 12:4-8. By trusting in God's plan and seeking to serve Him with integrity, we can fulfill our own unique roles in His kingdom, just as the Levites did in their time, as mentioned in 1 Peter 4:10-11.

Ellicott's Commentary on 1 Chronicles 24:9

(9) Malchijah.—Nehemiah 3:11. Mijamin.—Looks like on the right hand. Perhaps the first syllable is a disguise of Mê (water—a metaphorical term for son), and then the name would be equivalent to Benjamin (Nehemiah 12:5).

Cambridge Bible on 1 Chronicles 24:9

9. Mijamin] So Nehemiah 10:7; Nehemiah 12:5; but 1 Chronicles 12:17, “Miniamin.”
