1 Samuel 19:7 Summary
[This verse shows us that Jonathan, the son of King Saul, cared deeply for his friend David and wanted to help him. He brought David back to serve the king again, just like he had before, and this was possible because Saul had promised not to harm David, as seen in 1 Samuel 19:6. This reminds us that we can trust in God's promises, just like Jonathan trusted his father's oath, and that He always keeps His word, as seen in Numbers 23:19. We can also learn from Jonathan's example about the importance of loyal friendships and standing up for one another.]
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did Jonathan bring David to Saul after Saul had previously tried to kill him?
Jonathan brought David to Saul because he had spoken to his father and Saul had sworn an oath not to harm David, as seen in 1 Samuel 19:6, and Jonathan trusted that his father would keep his word, just as God keeps His promises in Deuteronomy 7:9.
What does it mean for David to serve Saul as he had before?
For David to serve Saul as he had before means that David would resume his role as a servant and musician in Saul's court, playing the harp for him as mentioned in 1 Samuel 18:10, and also possibly continuing his military duties as seen in 1 Samuel 18:13.
How did Jonathan's actions in this verse demonstrate his character?
Jonathan's actions in this verse demonstrate his loyalty, trust, and bravery, as he stood up for his friend David and believed in his father's oath, much like the trust and loyalty shown by God towards those who fear Him in Psalm 103:17-18.
What can we learn from Jonathan's relationship with David in this verse?
We can learn about the importance of loyal friendships and the value of standing up for one another, just as Jonathan did for David, and as seen in the example of David and Jonathan's friendship in 1 Samuel 20:16-17.

- In what ways can I serve others like David served Saul, even if it's difficult or challenging?

- How can I trust in God's sovereignty and timing, just like Jonathan trusted that his father would keep his oath, and wait for Him to work out difficult situations in my life?
