Job 42:9 Summary
[This verse shows us that God values prayer and obedience, and that He is a God of mercy and forgiveness. When Job prayed for his friends, God accepted his prayer and blessed him, as seen in Job 42:9 and Job 42:10. This teaches us that our prayers can make a difference in the lives of others, and that God is always working for our good, as promised in Romans 8:28. By obeying God's commands and praying for others, we can experience His blessing and mercy in our own lives.]
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did God tell Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar to go to Job and sacrifice a burnt offering?
God told them to do this because they had not spoken accurately about Him, unlike Job, and this act was a way for them to seek forgiveness and restoration, as seen in Job 42:7-8 and supported by the principle in Leviticus 4:1-3 that sin requires atonement through sacrifice.
What does it mean that the LORD accepted Job's request?
This means that God heard and honored Job's prayer for his friends, showing that God values intercessory prayer, as seen in Job 42:9 and supported by the teaching in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 that we should pray for all people.
How did Job's friends show obedience to God's command?
Job's friends showed obedience by going to Job and sacrificing a burnt offering for themselves, as God had instructed them to do in Job 42:8, demonstrating the importance of obeying God's commands, as emphasized in Deuteronomy 11:27-28 and Jeremiah 7:23.
What is the significance of God accepting Job's prayer for his friends?
This shows that God is a God of mercy and forgiveness, and that He values the prayers of the righteous, as seen in Job 42:9 and supported by the teaching in James 5:16 that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
