Zechariah 6:7 Summary
Zechariah 6:7 tells us that God is in control of the world and that He has the power to send out His 'horses' to patrol the earth. This means that God is actively involved in the world and is working out His plan to redeem and restore His people, as seen in Jeremiah 29:11. Just as the horses in this verse obeyed God's command, we can trust in God's sovereignty and surrender to His will, knowing that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28). By trusting in God's control, we can find comfort and peace, even in uncertain times.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the strong horses in Zechariah 6:7 represent?
The strong horses in Zechariah 6:7 likely represent the four spirits of heaven mentioned in Zechariah 6:5, which are going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth to patrol the earth, as seen in Zechariah 6:7. This is similar to how horses are used in Jeremiah 6:23 to describe the strength and power of God's judgment.
Why did the Lord tell the horses to patrol the earth?
The Lord told the horses to patrol the earth because He wanted to exercise His sovereign control over the world, as seen in Psalm 103:19, where it says that God's throne is in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all. This is also reflected in Daniel 4:35, which states that God does as He pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.
Is Zechariah 6:7 related to the end times or a specific historical event?
While Zechariah 6:7 does have some prophetic implications, its immediate context suggests that it is related to the historical event of the restoration of Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile, as seen in Zechariah 1:16. However, the themes of God's sovereignty and judgment in this verse are also relevant to the end times, as described in Revelation 19:11-16.
How does Zechariah 6:7 fit into the overall message of the book of Zechariah?
Zechariah 6:7 fits into the overall message of the book of Zechariah by emphasizing God's sovereign control over the world and His plan to restore and redeem His people, as seen in Zechariah 1:3-6 and Zechariah 8:1-8. This verse also serves as a reminder of God's power and authority, which is a recurring theme throughout the book of Zechariah, such as in Zechariah 4:6-10.
