The shepherds were told of his birth by a company of angels. He was circumcised at eight days old and was presented to the Lord according to the law of Moses. He was visited by the wise men, was carried into Egypt to save his life, and returned after the death of Herod. When twelve years old he went into the temple and disputed with the doctors, was found there by his mother, went home and obeyed his parents until thirty years old. He then came to John and was baptized by him in Jordan. Was led into the wilderness and was tempted of the devil.

After this he came out and called his first followers and commenced his public life as a teacher.
