God’s Olive Tree The Lord hath called thy name, A Green Olive Tree-- Jeremiah 11:16.

There are at least ten particulars in which this name fits into the facts of Hebrew history:

  • The Soil--Canaan, in which planted by God.

  • The Branches--Israel and Judah, with minuter ramifications

  • The Fatness--Privileges: the Law, Oracles of God, Tabernacle, Oil of Spirit, etc.

  • The Fruit--Consummate bloom--Messiah

  • The Excision--Branches cut off on account of unbelief

  • The Graft--Believing Gentiles grafted in, in their room

  • The Re-Graft--Excised branches ultimately restored

  • The Husbandman--God Himself
