- — blasted with the east wind] To this wind is ascribed in Scripture all the mischief done to corn or fruit, by blasting, smutting, mildews, locusts, &c. It was more pernicious in Egypt than other places, because it came through the vast deserts of Arabia. Bp. Patrick.

- — the magicians] Men who professed a skill in interpreting dreams; whether by natural observations, or by consulting demons, or by the foolish art of astrology, or by certain superstitious characters, pictures, images, and figures, engraven with magical rites and ceremonies, is uncertain.
