Numbers 13:23

And when they came to the brook of Esheol.

And when they came to the valley, or brook, which afterward, upon this occasion, was called Esheol, from the cluster of grapes which here they cut down.

Numbers 13:32

It is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof.

Either the air is unwholesome and wastes the inhabitants with diseases; or the soil is so stubborn and harsh to work upon, that it spends their bodies with the difficulty of their labours.

Numbers 13:33

We were in our own sight as grasshoppers.

For stature and strength, there seemed to be no less difference betwixt them and us, than between grasshoppers and men.
