reproved. 17. ¶ So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-fervants; and they bare children. 18. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abrahams wife.
Abraham’s unreasonable fears are farther rebuked by Abimelech’s kindness.

He refuses Sarah, and with her makes a noble present, as a repair of his mistake, with full licence to live wherever he chores; and he adds a warning to Sarah, against the like prevarication. Note, (1.) When he had a good man, he is worth making our friend. (2.) Let Sarah’s daughters remember, their eyes and their affections should be covered to all, but their own husbands.

Abraham’s return for Abimelech’s favours. He prayed for him, and God healed his family of their harmonies. Note, The prayers of God’s people for us, are the best returns they can make us.
