6 the city. i.e., the city with its suburbs, and with the space reserved for supplying the necessary means of sustenance: see xlviii. 15-20.

10. Just balances. Just weights and measures (for the need of which see Amos viii. 5)—this is the essential point in vers. 10-12. The dry homer was about 11 bushels; the liquid homer about 90 gallons. The shekel would probably be equal now to about £1 5s. But the shekel varied very much.

18 thou shalt take, etc. Vers. 18-25 are directed to the prince. He is commanded to provide the sacrifices, and the priest is to offer them.

29 for him that is simple. i.e., for sins of ignorance. See Lev. iv. 2, 13, 27.

23 seven bullocks and seven rams. The Mosaic ordinance was for “two young bullocks and one ram and seven lambs”: Numb. xxviii. 19, 24.

25. In the seventh month, etc. The service for the Feast of Tabernacles is the same as that for the Passover. The Pentecost is not mentioned.
