Numbers 36
McGeeNumbers 36:6
LAW REGARDING THE INHERITANCE OF THE LANDThe chiefs of the families of the sons of Joseph presented a problem to Moses. If the daughters of Zelophehad should marry men outside their own tribe, then their land would pass into another tribe. So Moses tells them the Word of the Lord concerning this. The land was to stay in the tribe. No man could lose his property permanently. At the year of jubilee, all property which had been mortgaged reverted to the original family again. This was a marvelous arrangement which God made for His people. It was the way He protected them.
