Psalms 134

A Song of Degrees.. " ARGUMENT. It is uncertain by whom this Psalm was composed, but it seems to have been made to be sung by some one or ■- more of the Levites, at the shutting up of the gates of the temple; to excite the rest, whoso turn it was to watch that night, to be diligent in their office of singing Psalms, and making devout prayers for the people.* It is the last of those that have the title of a Song ofDegreesj concerning which, see Psal. cxx.

Psalms 134:1

aSeHOLD, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord. Attend to youT duty, O ye ministers of the Lord; who not only by day, but by night also, reverently wait upon him in his house: (IChron.ix. 33.) cease not to, declare how great and how good the Lord is; »

Psalms 134:2

Lift -up your hands in the sanctuanj, and bless the Lord. Be fervent in your devotion; and, disclaiming all dependance on any thing else, praise the Lord in his sanctuary with pure hearts and clean hands; and give thanks for all his benefits.;*-■■«; >

Psalms 134:3

The Lord that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion. Pray also for his people Israel, and say; The great Lord, who,. though he cannot be confined, being the creator of all things, yet hath his special residence in this place, dispense his blessings, both heavenly andcarthly; from hence, unto every one of you.
