Companions of the Way (Morning)

I heard Thy voice in the Garden.

I WILL out into my garden to hear the birds sing, The dawn is green and golden, the night hath taken wing;

The dews so fresh and fragrant the world to smiles will win,—

I will out into my garden, where many birds begin.

Within my walled garden the morning's like wine,

With rue and balm of healing, and rose and lily fine;

And in the wide green dawning there's nought of soil and sin,—

I will out into my garden to hear the birds begin.

And through mine olive garden perchance that One goes, As in an Easter dawning of sapphire and rose,

KATH- ARINE TYNAN HINKSON With blessed feet still bleeding where bitter nails went in,—

I will out into my garden, where many birds begin.
