Daily Cheer for All the Year

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.— LUKE xii, 2.

The brave do never shun the light;

Just are their thoughts, and open are their tempers;

Truly without disguise, they love or hate;

Still are they found in the fair face of day;

And heaven and men are judges of their actions.

ROWE.

The guilty soul cannot keep its own secret. It (the guilty conscience) betrays his discretion, it breaks down his courage, it conquers his prudence.

DANIEL WEBSTER.

There is no secret in the heart which the actions do not disclose. The most consummate hypocrite can- not at all times conceal the workings of the mind.

FROM THE FRENCH.
