Daily Thoughts from Phillips Brooks

"As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in Me." The word here, it will be observed again, is cannot. It is the imperative of natural law. Fruit-bearing without Christ is not an improbability, but an impossibility. As well expect the natural fruit to flourish without air and heat, without soil and sunshine.
