Them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. — 1 THESS. iv. 14.

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? — JOHN xi. 25, 26.

"BY one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned." "Jesus Christ hath abolished death, and hath brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel." "He that hath the Son hath life" and can triumphantly say, "O grave, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?" The Psalmist said, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death." A shadow is not substance; that shadow indicates light beyond. Dean Alford wrote the epitaph upon his tomb in Old Canterbury. It reads thus: "The inn of a traveller, on his way to the New Jerusalem."

God has said, "If the spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies." His Spirit is the earnest, confirming his word of promise: "That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us." And thus we know that "when Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall we also appear with him in glory."
