1 Sermon Illustrations on Spiritual Preaching

1 illustration

Spiritual preaching involves delivering God's truth with power and clarity, aiming to transform hearts through the Holy Spirit's anointing. It often uses vivid, imaginative language and illustrations to make divine truths alive and compelling, reflecting the apostle Paul's exhortation to preach the word in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). This approach emphasizes reliance on the Spirit rather than mere human eloquence (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Fancy, Power of

Imaginative speech vividly presents truth and beautifies dry facts for listeners.

Most marvellous and enviable is that fecundity of fancy which can adorn whatever it touches; which can invest naked fact and dry reasoning with unlooked-for beauty; make flowerets bloom even on the brow of the precipice; and, when nothing better can be had, can turn the very substance of the rock itself into moss and lichens. This faculty is incomparably the most important for the vivid and attractive exhibition of truth to the minds of men.
