Jesus' compassion on the Multitude (Children's Lesson)

Thank you for coming tonight. As we're gathered unto Him, the Lord Jesus, we're looking for a blessing from our Heavenly Father this evening. Let's just bow our heads and pray.

Father, we come before You, Lord, and we are so blessed to have the Word of God, have our Bibles, and we can open and learn of You, Father. Lord, I ask that You would like me to bless each one, and now I ask that You would bless the children. Father, I ask that You would learn to lift it up in your heart and give it to them, Father, that they would learn of Jesus and be taught of the Lord and be instructed in the Lord and be enlightened in the Lord.

Father, thank You for all the children here tonight. Father, help us to learn of You, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

I want to talk to you all again tonight. And, you know, I know that Jesus loved the children, but you know how I know that? Because the Bible says so. But I also know because the children were ready to come unto Him and He was able to take them up in His arms and bless them.

Well, tonight we have a lesson here of the gift in the job, chapter 6. And it goes sort of like this. Jesus went over to the Phoenix family, which is called the Phoenix, and they departed into a sinister place by a ship, privately. You know, Jesus, I believe, He enjoyed riding in the boat.

It tells us that He sometimes sat in the boat when He shot the people and the people stood on the shore. And it says that He departed by ship. And when the people saw them departing, they recognized that it was Jesus.

They knew Him. And they saw Him getting in the ship and going across the lake and they wanted to be where Jesus was. Look at what they did.

It says they ran afoot of all the city. Wow. I wonder what that looks like.

Can you imagine being a little boy and seeing all the people running down the street? And you say, where are they going? I wonder what they're going after. What are they doing to others about? It says they ran out of all cities and they outweighed those in the boat with Jesus going across the lake and they came unto Him and a great multitude followed Him because they saw the miracles that Jesus did. There was never before a man like Jesus.

He was doing many miracles. And He was healing people that were sick. Those that had diseases like leprosy, that there was no cure for, were like cancer in our day.

But when they came to Jesus and Jesus saw that the lepers were healed and Jesus even saw it in the eyes of people that were crying with their eyes were open. Oh, there were so many miracles. And the people wanted to go to be with Jesus.

And some people were sick. They really died. When you see something like cyber-tragedy and you see a lot of people going in a direction, do you want to go too? Do you wonder what they're going to see? Oh, yes.

I can remember when I was a little boy and we used to get really big thunderstorms. Maybe it's because I was little. But I don't think we get thunderstorms anymore like we used to.

And I was a boy. I mean, the thunderstorms came at about 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday evening. And the sky was about to get black and dark going further.

And you know what stopped my son? I remember we had a pool night all over the pool. And it got so dark at like 5 o'clock in the evening in July that the pool light went off. And it was all wind-filled.

And the clouds were thick and rolling black. And then the thunderstorms came in. And all at once, the thunders were really loud and lightning-fast.

And then the rain fell down. And sometimes after that happened, the thunders were flat, loud and hard. We heard a fire siren call.

And we looked out the window. And by now, the rain was starting to go down. And we looked around.

And the rain was stopping. And the clouds were moving on. And the sirens were going.

And we'd see the smoke. Oh, no, lightning struck a barn. And public runs to the pickup truck.

And all the pickup trucks were running down to the youngest in the family. How many are the youngest in the family here tonight? Anybody? And I did, one, two. And I said, Pop, you're all two.

And sometimes he'd let me go along. Because I wanted to see what was happening. And my neighbor, he was racing out of his lane in his pickup truck.

Everybody said, quick, get there to help. Get the cows out of that barn with the pigs. And, oh, this was so exciting.

You know, that's how people open up their hearts. That's how people were so excited. And I can picture this, a little lad running into his mom and saying, Mom, all the people are going up the street to see Jesus.

He's going to the desert place, they say. Mom, I want to go. Can I go, too? I want to go down where we're going.

It looks like everybody's going. They're all going. I want to go, too.

And Mom says, you may go. But here, wait a minute. They might get late.

It's pretty far, straight over there to that desert where Jesus is. And all these people going, who knows how late they're going to get here. They've not come home.

All right. I would like to volunteer somebody tonight to help me. I wonder if Zach would like to come up as well.

Would you? Okay, you come on up here. You're the little lad, and you want to go run to be with Jesus, and your mom gets you a little lunch. Now, see in there, there's two fish in there, and we'll call these preppers home, okay? Five of those and two fish.

So when Jesus came and saw much people, he was moved with compassion for them. He loved the people, and he saw the people that were like Jesus on earth. And then he began to heal those sick people.

And Zach, by the way, just call him a little lad, Zach. Zach got the disease. Some sick people get healed.

He got the disease. Some blind guys get healed. He got the disease.

Some lepers get cleansed. Wasn't that exciting? Maybe he was talking about Jesus talking. And people got set free, and they were happy and rejoicing.

Now, there's nothing to be amazed at. Nothing to be very forward on right now. Now, this time, this time of the day, you know, the sun is already set by the moon.

And this day, this is a new day. And the sun is set. The time is not far back.

That's the end of the day. There's nobody home. But Jesus came.

There are people on the way. And he says to them, one of the disciples, hey, how are we going to buy bread? Let all these men eat. They're going to pay.

$210. You know how much $210 is when you buy? $210 for a series. Only the one I looked up, it's a dictionary.

It would be like two-day wages. We're daily working. I mean 200-day wages.

That's all. 200 days. And he said, 200 days of bread.

He had just a little. You see how big the crowd is? Hold up your station and your boat. Look at that.

That's not very much. But all these people, that's one of the disciples. And her son, Jesus, goes in.

There's a lad here. With his five-armed load and two small fish. How big are your fish? Oh, they're pretty small, aren't they? Wow.

Can you get a little bit more? Oh, good. There we go. And her Jesus said, bring the fish.

So, I can just picture Andrew going to the little guy who has the lunch on there. And I can just do a bunch of things. I said, hey, I have your lunch.

Jesus would like to have your lunch. Hey, I have your lunch, Josh. And I can just see Josh say, yes, you may have my lunch, but take it to Jesus.

He can have all of it. And then Jesus, he commanded the people to sit down. And he took that lard, five loaves and two fishes, and he said they sat down in a company, and there was about 5,000 men.

Wow. How many is that? How many do you think 5,000 is? Are there 5,000 people in the synagogue? I don't think so. How many people are in the synagogue here? I'm curious.

What do you think? That's pretty good. Isn't it 100? Isn't it 80? Now, that's actually a real good guess, Josh. And you know what? There's over 5,000 in all of them, and they all sat down.

There would be 2,000 groups of 50 or 100. So, 5,000 groups, 5,000 people. That would make 100 groups of 50.

What a day. Or 50 groups of 100. That's a lot of people.

Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fishes, and he looked up to heaven, and he gave thanks and he blessed them, and then he began to break them and give those to the disciples. And the disciples who were holding the fishes that stopped it, Jesus took the loaves and the fishes and began to break them and give them to the disciples and told them that the disciples said, put them onto all these different fruits. Oh, I've eaten that fruit for a long time.

I've eaten that many times for a long, long while. And then he said, this is all meat and it was filled. It all was filled.

And then Jesus said, gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost, and they gathered them together. And does anybody on the internet want to tell me how many baskets of fragments they gathered together, the leftovers? How many bags, baskets? 12 baskets. So, that's more or less than what we started with.

Oh, when Jesus comes and touches our lives and blesses our food, it could have been even better than it was from the start. Yes. And then it says, they were all filled as they were no longer hungry.
