God’s Love Will Fill The Emptiness

God lives and works today. He is truly a Father of comfort, as He calls to us His children through the pages of the Bible, saying, As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. Isaiah 66, 13.

Especially those who are grieving over the loss of a loved one can and should experience this wonderful reality. Listen to today's meditation by Basilea Schlink called, God's Love Will Fill the Emptiness. Perhaps someone who loved you very much has been taken away by death.

He isn't with you anymore, and his absence makes you poor. You've grown poorer in love. And love is life.

To be loved makes a person happy. Now this happiness has been taken away from you. Also, one of the characteristics of love is that it must always give.

So you have become poorer in gifts too. Whether this person who loved you was your wife, your husband, or your father or mother, he cared for you out of his love, with earthly goods and gifts. You were well cared for, for love's duty is to care.

Now perhaps you have even come into financial difficulties. In any case, you miss what this dear person always did for you, and the gifts with which he helped you out. This need, this not being cared for anymore, contributes to tremendous grief of your soul.

However, there is someone who is standing by, just waiting for you to glance up at him, to turn to him. He's ready to step in, to fill the empty place, and to take over the responsibility that your loved one had. He will care for you now.

This someone is Jesus Christ, who once became man and walked upon the earth. Therefore, he understands people. He can still speak with us and help us today, just as truly as he did then.

This Jesus, who once came to help people out of their distress and helplessness, does the same today. He remains the same in his nature of love. This love impels him to turn to those who have been left behind, or who are in need and suffering.

However, Jesus doesn't want to comfort just our souls. No, he is there to help out in the external problems and difficulties as well. The Bible says, whoever puts his trust in him will never be put to shame or disappointed.

So right now, when your support has been taken away from you, Jesus asks, Venture it with me. Don't you think that I can find the way to help you in your trouble? Didn't I create all heaven and earth? Doesn't all the silver and gold belong to me? Where can Jesus demonstrate his power and ability to help more gloriously than in a true situation of distress, where there's no other way out? There he can prove what a great Lord he is. Yes, a Lord who does miracles to this very day, and who can supply our needs by wonderful means.

Therefore, trust and really count upon the might and love of Jesus, and you will experience it.
