Medicine for Our Soul

God lives and works today. One of the special ways in which He works is described by His name, the Great Physician. Today's meditation by Basilía Schling talks about an exciting and powerful medicine for our soul.

The Lord has given us so many remedies to cure us of our physical diseases. Yet, how much more will He do everything possible to heal our souls? Is not our soul worth much more to Him than our bodies? He tells us in Matthew 10, verse 28, Do not fear those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

The unfailing medicine for the diseases of our soul is the blood of the Lamb, as it is written. The blood of Jesus cleanses us completely from all sin. His word is true.

We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, Ephesians 1. And they have conquered by the blood of the Lamb, Revelation chapter 12. The blood of Jesus Christ is a wonderful medicine. It has attained forgiveness for us.

It covers our sins. But even more, it cleanses us from them. And as we read in 1 Peter chapter 1, it ransoms us from the futile ways inherited from our fathers.

That is, it heals us from all the diseases of our sin. So we can't praise the blood of the Lamb enough. In it, we will find redemptive healing power.

Those who daily claim this power in faith for their own spiritual diseases will experience it. The cure doesn't always occur immediately. However, only those who take the prescribed medicine faithfully will recover.

The blood of Jesus, the medicine for our sinful diseases, has to be taken faithfully for a long time, often for months and years. That means we have to praise the blood of the Lamb, especially when we take part in the Lord's Supper. It means that we have to praise the power of His blood in our daily prayers over each one of our specific diseases of sin.

In faith, we must claim the blood of Jesus Christ, the blood that cleanses us from every sin. O Satan, thou must take to flight, for Jesus' blood has such great might. His precious blood was shed for me.

It has redeemed me, set me free. Such prayers spoken or sung in faith are never in vain. The redeeming power of the blood of the Lamb works deep within our hearts.

It works on the roots of our sins day in and day out, transforming us more and more, because Jesus' sacrifice has redeemed us, and His redemption is complete. Let us faithfully claim the power of His blood in song and prayer every day over our sins and bondages. Then we will experience His healing redemption and release.

Your precious blood has such great might. It sakes from Satan's heart so tight. I praise your blood that sets me free from Satan's grip and tyranny.
