God lives and works today. When we begin to let Him work in our lives, we become filled with strength, faith, and joy. But what about when joy begins to fade? When we come to a physical or spiritual standstill? Listen to the following program by Basilea Schlink called On Fire for Jesus.
A few years ago, we came to a so-called standstill in the life of our sisterhood. But Jesus has no time for standstills, and especially in these days when He needs every hour and every heart for His saving work. So He pulled us out of our indifference through a get-together one evening with our mother, Basilea.
She described for us what Jesus sees in a heart that really loves Him. It really hit home when Mother Basilea said to us, You know, we can be quiet and harmonious and go about our work, and yet hurt Jesus very much if we're not on fire, if our heart is not in tune with Him and His concerns, if we do not feel sad about the things that hurt Him. Yes, in this get-together, Mother Basilea told us that a heart that loves Jesus is set on fire, pressing forward, never stopping for rest, dead to all self-interest, taking advantage of every day, every hour, losing no time.
He is on the lookout for new opportunities to spread the commission. His ardor is as great as His program, and His program is as great as His love, and His love is worldwide. Yes, a heart that loves Jesus doesn't take into consideration talents and ability, time, money, and energy.
He just loves, and so He relies solely on Jesus, not asking what is possible, but what God wants. But this love is not to be confused with busyness. This burning love is the divine restlessness that animates the beings at God's throne.
It can only be obtained by being at one with God, spending much time in prayer, in silence before His presence. It is only from Him that we receive inspirations that will be according to His heart. Only at His holy fire will we become fiery, and this is the fire that comes from repentance.
Therefore, rejoice! From now on, the standstills in our life need no longer remain standstills. Let Jesus shake you out of all the indifference in your heart. There is no prayer that Jesus answers so quickly and so readily as the prayer for repentance, for it is a prayer after His own heart.
Then a dynamic love will burn in our hearts for the Lord's service, transforming duty into desire. Yes, on God's holy fire we will become fiery, and this fire comes from repentance. This is my Savior cheers, followed by praise and rejoicing, love and my gratitude voicing.
