My message today, friends, is on the subject of revival. I've never seen a time when our nation needs revival more than now. Our young people today are godless and our society spins out of control in moral chaos.
Revival is always needed when the spiritual life of the church is at a low ebb and its members are more concerned about sports and entertainment than souls perishing into a burning hell. The psalmist declares the need in psalm 85 6, wilt thou not revive us again that thy people may rejoice in thee. We need revival, friends.
We need God to send a heaven-sent revival to establish his prominence and preeminence in our sanctuaries once again. I want a list for us today. Ten reasons why we need revival.
Number one, we need revival when the church has lost her voice of authority and influence upon society. Number two, we need revival when pastors have become teachers instead of preachers. Number three, we need revival when our communities grow more wicked every day and our churches are powerless against it.
Number four, we need revival when believers have become desensitized to sin and tolerate sin in their daily living. Number five, we need revival when Christians have fallen into apathy toward the lost in their community and indifference towards the spread of the gospel around the world. Number six, we need revival when our churches have grieved away the presence of God through compromise and conformity.
Number seven, we need revival when the church maintains a low view of God and a low view of sin. Number eight, we need revival when the church relies more on money and manpower to get the job done rather than faith and prayer. Number nine, we need revival when there is an absence of holiness in our personal lives.
And lastly, number ten, we need revival when we have fallen into prayerlessness and unbelief. Great God, grant us revival in our day, I pray in the strong name of Christ Jesus.
