It is Finished!

Everyone else and he announces it. He declares it. It's finished And that's what I would like to talk to you about and the first part of the meeting tonight What the Lord Jesus was saying and what happened when he was on the cross when he said it is finished Imagine an artist.

I'm not an artist. I can hardly write my name much. Let's draw a picture, but you get to the very end I imagine that's the way it goes and you have to put the what they call it the final touches or the final touch And you put put the brush down Finished that that's what the Lord Jesus is doing.

He is talking about a work that he has done He has been gone. He's been on the cross and he has suffered immensely and now he says It's finished The work that I have done is all done But I want you to think with any tonight about what happened there because he was actually He was mistreated And he was punished and he suffered horribly So I want to think about that work and first of all think about the fairness the fairness of the punishment of the cross We are all experts in fairness there are children here and they are experts and judging fairness a Younger brother sees an older brother getting to stay up late goes to mom. What does he say? What does he say mom? It's not fair, you see we're good at judging what's fair and what's not Get a teenager Parents say no, you can't go there.

You can't you can't go there. What does the teenager say? mom and dad Everyone else is going it's not fair. We can judge we are we are able to judge what is fair.

What is not sometimes I Read that awful story that gruesome story of a woman who was given the death penalty Because she took a knife to a pregnant woman killed a woman and cut out the baby. It's just gruesome awful Death penalty. She's gonna die for it fair not fair fair Well now come with me to another place I Want you to think for a minute about a place called hell Where people are going to suffer? Suffer Day and night and it's never going to end in a lake of fire fair or not fair I Want to tell you every person here tonight who saved you know what we would say That's where I should be and I say it's fair not because well, I don't have any choice because God says I have to say that Every person who's truly saved will tell you if God had put me in hell That would be the right thing That would be the correct thing That would be the fair thing It's awful to think about but that's how bad sin is and when a person understands My sin are taking me to hell and that's what God not only could do that's not what he will do That's what he should do with me because of my sin.

That's fairness God is right. God is just and if it is going to be a just place He will adjust case he will have to give out the proper punishment and that would not be too much and it would not be too little And that's why when you're saved you're so thankful that you won't get what you what do we always say what we deserve? fair But you know when the Lord Jesus was going to the cross there were some women that were following along behind and they were weeping And they were crying Why were they crying? Well, this was a young man. He was he was 33 years old and he was a young man and the what's fair.

What's Older people should die or younger people should die first who should die first Well, the fair thing would be the older before the younger That's what we would think and so they see a young man and and the sick or the healthy Well, this is a healthy young man The good or the bad why there's never been a man in our area who has ever done as much good as Jesus of Nazareth He is a man who has healed he has helped he has taught he has fed This is a man who should not die and they come behind and they're weeping. Maybe they were professional. Maybe they were just mocking I'm not really they Weeping because this is not fair.

They realize it's not fair in some degree or another Let's go a little further We're in the courtroom Stands up one witness. He stands up and he says Jesus is guilty of Someone up stands up over here and he says no no He's guilty of not X but Y They're no, what are you talking about? He did see and The Bible says the witnesses didn't even agree and they punished him fair or not fair He said where's the fairness of the cross? You're gonna tell us about the fairness. This does not sound fair at all And then you go even further and the judge says I find no fault in him the whip cracks on his back The judge says I don't find anything wrong with this man and they hit him with their fists And they put a crown of thorns on him.

The judge says there's no guilt here I there's I can't find anything to charge him with and they take him out and there's the Pounding of nails through his hands and his feet and he's up on a cross and the people have done their absolute worst They have mistreated him. They can't hardly you can't even hardly recognize him as a man and the judge said this didn't Where's the fairness of the cross Let's go a little further When he's on that cross people stand back and The very God of heaven who's the fair God the just God the Holy God He begins to move and he starts to punish that man on the cross God has said that there's nothing wrong with him He's the Son of God in whom I'm well pleased and then God punishes him you say where's the fairness God punishing an innocent a holy man. Where's the fairness in his work this work of the cross? The Bible says that God made him to be sin that means that God treated him you say wait a minute I'm the one if I had been there God would punish me.

That would be fair Oh that you would really believe that with all your heart tonight May it stir you to think about what you deserve for what you have done to God to think of a holy God moving in Punishment on a sinner that should that should well if it brought terror to your soul, it wouldn't be too much too little It's a real thing. But this man has done nothing wrong. He has no sin in him Then why is where's the fairness? You see the fairness is this That I wasn't on the cross And that he was there For who he was there for me and so God punished him so I won't be punished I'll never get over that truth But wait a minute How is this fair? I want to speak carefully now and reverently that a father Sends his son to die and be punished when his son didn't Where's the fairness in that That would not be fair that would be cruel if a father had a son be punished for something he didn't do except that we have to go even further and we have to go right into the heart of the man who died and Understand that what he did there.

He wasn't forced to do it He so much wanted to provide salvation for people like you and for people like me That he went to that cross and the judge Instead of giving me my punishment. He gave it to him and he willingly took it out of love to me That's fair God has given punishment and God has saved my soul What what could that do for you tonight the fairness of Calvary the fairness of the cross? We're not talking about something that was done in a corner something that was done illegally Something with God kind of looking the other way it is in the courtroom of God been determined He is just in the justifier of them that believeth in Jesus It is the fairest work of ever of all the fairness of the punishment of Christ But I want you to think with me now when the Lord Jesus said it's finished What that means is that justice the judge? He carried it all out. It's all taken care of and legally he can pronounce sinner Forgiven cleared of guilt justified He can save you because it's finished He can save me.

It's finished that work that work of satisfying the judge It's all done and he declared it's finished But think with me about the fullness of that provision The fullness if he was actually providing all that's necessary for sin for my sin So you could have be offered salvation as well. I Want you to think about the fullness of that provision? Sometimes I remember when I went I'm not a medical person, but so forgive me all you medical people But I remember when we went to Mexico. I heard that we had to get a bunch of shots Dr. Scott Yacob, and he told me I needed a hepatitis shot.

I don't know was a B. J. Y KL. I have no idea But I had to get a shot. I Don't know which one it was But he told me that there was no shot for the other one.

Maybe it was a in BC I don't know what it was you and one of those there's no shot for When it comes to the provision of the Lord Jesus on the cross It wasn't for all these sins But those ones know It wasn't a provision that's good enough for certain certain types of sins and others know For certain little ones but for big ones know for big ones little ones or however You want to bad ones public ones ones that embarrass you ones that haunt your memory one that's haunt your conscience Ones you want no one to ever know about Listen to what the Bible says the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanses us from every type of sin It's such a full provision. It covers every type of sin. There is Whatever you may have committed there's provision for the blood of Christ the provision the work.

He said it's finished and full But think with me as well about the number of sins I You have a printer at home They are some of the most frustrating machines. I've ever known at least mine is I don't know why but mine has it It always runs out of ink just when I'm in the middle of something important In other words, there's enough in that little useless cartridge to do some And it's really good when it's working, but eventually you start to get the lines and then it's no good anymore The Work of the Lord Jesus on the cross is not a work that eventually is going to go gray and run out of run out and The number of sins will exceed the provision impossible The fullness of the provision the foot when he said it is finished in full It is good enough. Not all not only for all of my sins, but for the sins of the world He is the propitiation for our sin, but not for ours only but for the world It isn't ample.

It is a full provision But what about time? You see where I come from we work a lot with people that are really worried about Okay, I can understand that when he died he paid for me up. He made a provision that's good enough for me up until now But I know I'm not going to be perfect what if I sin tomorrow God is not in the business of erasing hard drives He doesn't want to erase the hard drive That would just give you a new start when you send tomorrow he'd be in the same problem He wants to take care of the past the present and even the future even though we have no plans of sin He wants is that when he said it is finished. I am so thankful that it covers my whole life and That's how full this provision is But who is this provision for I want you to think about the people So often we have the idea that salvation is for people who are good not so We have the idea Salvation is for people who are able to have been able to figure it out and for people who are willing to Somehow have got enough faith and they have got enough believing and they've been able to make the thing click.

There's no clicking with it Salvation is for people who need it It's for people who have sin and it doesn't matter whether you want to count yourself as a good sinner as a bad sinner It's for lost sinners Christ. Jesus came into the world to save sinners Christ died for the ungodly Any person in that category is is Eligible for this provision. It is a provision that will serve you as an ungodly a guilty sinner If you are in that category tonight longing for peace longing for pardon.

I have good news for you Jesus said It's finished Full provision. It's good for every sin and for every sinner Can I ask you tonight? Would it be good enough? For you It's finished, but I also want you to think about the finality of this payment the finality of it When he said it is finished Do you know what that meant? Just imagine what what that means to him and to his father in heaven. What does that actually mean? well, it means many things but one of the things it means is is that God is never going to have to remodel it.

You know how remodel if you're seen remodeling projects They build it all and it's all beautiful And then there's either something wrong with it. You have to remodel it It's not that they work out the bugs it can you computer type language thing You work out the bugs and you come out with a new version that you got rid of all the problem God will never be coming out with a new version where he has worked out the bugs of this work There are no problems. There are no difficulties.

There are no flaws It is absolutely perfect when he said it is finished. That's it God will not have another plan. He will never send his son again.

It's finished What good news forever? but what that also means is I There's a lot of computer people here I better talk respectfully I find computers frustrating because of this version thing They're always coming out with a new version It's not that the first one is bad, but this one is better. It's good and better not bad and good God will never come out with a better version of the work of the cross It could not be better When he said it's finished Heaven was completely satisfied and always will be That's why the Bible says once in the end of the age hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself the Bible says Christ once for all Suffered for sins the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God It will never be better heaven could not do better. We'll never have to do better It is absolutely enough the suffering the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross Jesus said it's finished And for heaven heaven can be still it's all done, but what does that mean here on earth? What that means when the Lord Jesus said it is finished He was not talking about The first installment on a payment plan.

That's the way a lot of people work at least down where I am what they say is I'm so thankful that Jesus died for our sins and now I'm gonna try and I'm really gonna try and believe it and I'm gonna Try and repent and I'm gonna try and live for the Lord Jesus, and I'm gonna Payment plan and the first installment was by the Lord. That's not what it is It wasn't that he did his part and It was a good start and now No, no, no, no, thank God. No, we'd never be saved It's finished It's all done It's paid in total paid in full The other day I went to the building department got a permit another one And I paid and they called me on the phone and I said you have to pay some more I'm talking 30 pesos $3.

So it didn't break God will never be calling me asking me for another payment. It's done What peace we can have You could have peace in your soul tonight. You could enjoy this blessed reality of What he meant when Jesus said the Lord Jesus said it's finished the finality of it all God doesn't have to do anything more and we don't have to do anything more.

It's all done. Oh done by the Lord Jesus I Have wondered at times Who heard the Lord Jesus say it's finished how many people? Well, perhaps you'll understand then The most important person heard that voice It is finished When Jesus cried with a loud voice it is finished that voice echoed up to God the judge What did God say Oh No, God God said I accepted He raised the Lord Jesus from the dead He brought him to heaven and he said sit at my right hand. I am happy.

I am thrilled. I am content I am satisfied with the work of Christ on the cross. It is enough that Jesus died It's finished Imagine what that meant to God when his son declared it's all done But I think the voice of the Lord Jesus not audibly, but you'll understand what I mean now He said 2,000 years ago.

It's finished and It's finished and it's finished and men and women are Declaring and men are taking the gospel and preaching it publicly around the world and we are preaching it It's finished and it's finished When's that when's that echo gonna stop I'm with mr. Paisley who says one of the things he's gonna miss in heaven is gospel preaching But even though we won't be preaching to sinners in heaven, I'm still gonna run around and just say it's finished And you know why? Because it's finished It's such great news Eternal news that we will declare and enjoy Will you be part of that group? Enjoying the fact that salvation is all provided. It's finished But you know vertically to God Horizontally around the world Chronologically forever. I Just want to end my little message tonight Enjoying these words it is finished and I want to ask one simple question Has that voice when Jesus said it is finished Has it ever come to your heart Have you ever thought that he was maybe speaking? To you and he has a message for you tonight He wants to tell you about his work his payment for sin on the cross his death the shedding of his precious blood and It is the best You know, I'm still trying to learn a bit of Spanish But I'll just take 30 seconds to tell you this.

I Didn't hardly know anything the numbers I knew some of the greetings But I always said people good night when it was good morning and good morning when it was good night when I first went to Mexico and I went to my first meeting. I thought oh, this will be lovely. I won't understand a thing Mr. David Alves got up and preached and He just read two words in the middle of the verse.

It was the first verse I learned in Spanish He read Spanish is two words English is three It is finished. I Thought to myself I've learned enough in the Spanish language. That'll do me for eternity.

It's finished What do you think of that tonight, oh that you would come for your own soul and all of your sin Just to be able to rest in him To find the value the sufficiency that it's good enough for God. Oh That'll be good enough for you The Lord Jesus declared about his work at Calvary with all of its fullness all its finality Remember what he says to you tonight? It is Finished
