We should strive to have a large vessel of faith, growing in it every day, and making it the foundation of our lives.
This sermon emphasizes the importance of not limiting God with our small expectations and faith. It challenges believers to expand their faith, trust in God's abundance, and not settle for small blessings or limited growth in spiritual life.

With the holy one of Israel. Suppose you make a little bed for your six or ten year old. Generally a complete bed has a bed head, a blank here, and at the feet, a smaller foot.
And you say, son, this is a fine bed. I made it for you. You must not outgrow this bed.
I'm not going to give you another bigger bed. So when you come to the limits of this bed, you must stop growing there. How many of you will say such a thing? My mother used to say, when I see particularly short people, parents, and I find their children to be really diminutive, I pray for those children.
These children should grow much taller than their parents. And she used to rejoice when her prayers were answered. But we tell God something like that.
Here is my little cup. I'm surprised at the little coffee cups that you get in the tuck shop. I've never seen such small thimble-like coffee cups.
Next time, tell them, don't bring, give us thimbles, and call it coffee cups. I asked one brother, what kind of cup is that? And he said, Brother, that is the standard tea cup in the tea shops of India. If you give more, the people say, Hey, you gave us too much.
I don't know what this is. But, the country is very big. The needs are very great.
The suffering is immense. But our cups are too small. And so, we take these cups and say to God, Can you fill this cup? No, that's an insult to Jesus.
How dare you say such a thing? And when that little cup is half full, you withdraw the cup and say, that's enough. And you go dancing around saying, I have a wonderful cup. Now, that characterizes the modern Christian worker and disciple.
Not a large cup, not an overflowing vessel, but something which is hardly enough for themselves. What is the use of such faith? A faith which is hardly adequate for you or your family. You see, friends, all of us are growing in years.
But are we growing in faith? I am sorry, we are not. By now, we should have been spiritual giants. We dare not remain a generation of dwarfs.
They will do no good in the world. Wherever you go in the world, though technology has increased, wisdom and knowledge of all sciences have increased, but faith has not increased. How sad.
Sir Isaac Newton, he was renowned for his scientific discoveries and so on. But he loved the Bible. And he wrote extensively about the Bible.
And when he considered the universe, what did he say? The Lord has put planet Earth in the exact position where it gets the right amount of heat and light. The Lord has put planet Earth.
