Nehemiah - Part 2

And he is the searcher of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Just imagine what the cumulative effect would be if all the thoughts and motivations of all the hearts here, those seated under the trees out there, those seated on the lawns out here, were combined together. If there is a determined action, I have done my own will all these years. I have had a fill of myself. Now, I will do the Father's will. I cannot even imagine what the impact of such a cumulative action would be. There are talents of all sorts here. And such great things can come out of even the little ones here. But all this hinges on obedience. But, what do we see in the scripture? They dealt proudly. Religious pride is perhaps the most obnoxious pride. Very ugly. Sublimely ugly. And I am so surprised how quickly religious pride can take hold of people. One young man was amazingly converted in one of the premier engineering colleges when I was a student. You know, the basic fact is, if you have any kind of engine that runs on gasoline or diesel or any such fuel, you need to refuel. Otherwise, your engine dies. Some people think once and for all they have refueled. No, my friend. I have had to go constantly to refuel. To receive from Jesus. I have had to have my eyes opened again and again. I found a choking engine very often. And a stalling vehicle. There was some dirt somewhere in the parking blocks. You know, once in a very remote part of the country, our engine went dead about one o'clock when I was driving my parents to a campaign. It was such a remote place. And you know, Benaria, where there were a lot of criminals too. It was not fear, but you know, it was the most inconvenient thing that could have happened. Well, I had to go some distance and try to find a good mechanic to see what exactly could have gone wrong. Do you know what he found? No fuel in the gas tank. What happened to that full tank? Some leak had developed. And all the fuel was lost. My dear friends, let me tell you, it is very easy to develop a leak. The thing is, I have noticed even preachers that do not realize that they have stopped. They have stopped. The touch of God is gone. The fire of the Holy Spirit is gone. They are all concerned about their honors. Listen, a man who desires the honor which comes from God only, he has no regard for the honors that come from men. In my own life, being a very foolish fellow, no great talents, but having much cause to be humble, but yet endowed with a great deal of vanity or foolishness, oh, I could have stalled long ago. But somehow, when I went again and again in prayer, God showed me the leaks which I had developed. The Lord Jesus broke me at the cross.
