The sermon emphasizes the importance of walking according to the spirit and being led by the Spirit of God, rather than following traditions or the flesh.
In this sermon, the preacher emphasizes the danger of following traditions instead of being led by the Spirit of God. He warns that relying on traditions can lead to a false assurance of salvation and a lack of spiritual growth. The preacher also highlights the negative impact of worldly perceptions of Christians who are influenced by traditions rather than the Spirit. He emphasizes the need to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh, as the flesh is hostile to God and does not submit to His Word. The sermon concludes with the reminder that Jesus came to provide salvation through His sacrifice on the cross and to set believers free from the law of sin and death.

And then we get in Romans 8 verse 2. It says the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the spirit of sin or sin and death. Spirit of sin. From the law, I mean the law of sin and death.
The law of death. You commit sin and then God's law brings death. Amen? Cause through the spirit that the requirements of the law are fulfilled in verse 4, us who no longer, no longer walk according to the flesh.
But you walk according to the spirit. You no longer walk, you do not walk according to the flesh. Galatians 5, 16 says walk by the spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.
And Romans 8 verse 6 says the mind set on the flesh is death. If your heart is still loving the things of the flesh and the nature and character of Satan, death is working because that's God's law. And you're building strongholds and death is working.
People sitting all over you are death all over you. Death is working in us. Diseases and things, see we don't know when disease is there until it manifested.
Then you're ready to die or something. The mind is set on the flesh, it's death. But the mind set on the spirit, loving the Lord with all your heart, is going to be life which is eternal.
Life will be working in you instead of death. The mind set on the spirit is life and peace. God puts a hedge on you when your mind set on the spirit.
He puts a hedge, that's where the walk of peace is. Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile to God and it does not subject itself to the word of God. I mean it does not subject itself to the law of God.
That's the reason Jesus comes to obviously do something about the flesh. That's the reason in the next few verses. You see, it says if you're walking by the spirit of the flesh, that's the flesh you must die.
This is how, you know in the Ponderosa you're just like a moth, just like a rotten, and you just slowly eat away while we think they're all over in Africa or India or somewhere else. Across the tracks, they wouldn't be around nice folks like us. Pride.
Folks, when you come up, when you see the true gospel, and you see the judgment and wrath of God, there's no hope for you. There's nothing you can work out. There's nothing you can do.
If you try to do anything, it's a work of the law. You can't do it. You can't fulfill it.
And you run just as hard as you can to mercy Jesus Christ for mercy and grace. Because there's no place for your sins outside the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and the victory at Calvary. Now Jesus did two things.
He come here, among other things, two other things he did. He came here for Calvary, the cross, the blood, the victory, so you would have a place to put your sins. Amen? Now when they put on the blood, then God no longer sees you as a lawbreaker.
Now do you see that? And also Jesus came as an example. Did we read in 1 Peter, 1 John 2 last night? That you'll walk as he walked. How do we explain that away? Does Jesus walk around with anger and unforgiveness, criticism, rebellion, and fault finding and gossip? No.
But if your heart is captured by traditions and they tell you what to do, then who do you think you're following? You're following a few traditions and you're not being led by the Spirit of God. Do you realize that if you get a false assurance from traditions right there, you're not led by the Spirit of God? You just show up! And it's no different from you. And this is the reason the people of the world see the people that come out of these buildings.
That's the reason they can spit across the parking lot when somebody talks about the Lord. Because what's the point of going home and saying, God looks like me? This is the end of side number one. Please turn tape over for the conclusion of this tape on side two.
