Northgate Anniversary Sunday 01

At this time, our speaker, our brother, from right here at Northgate Chapel, Bob Adcom. Well, so much has been said, it's hard to take it all in. I had about a 40-minute message I was going to bring, and all of those that really don't care about staying here for a 40 or 45-minute message, don't raise your hands.

That takes care of that. Twenty-five years has really, has just flown by. I think in view of what it has meant to all of us, that we'll have to start doing it every year.

You know, celebrate the 26th, the 27th, the 28th, and so on. Let's make this an annual affair. Amen? Amen.

What you've been listening to is really an encouragement to me. I recall coming over to Northgate 25 years ago, and my plans at that time were to stay over here about a year, help with the work, and then go back to the Gospel Center. It's been here 25 years, off and on.

But what I have listened to this morning is an answer to prayer. The Apostle Paul said that Christians' lives are like letters. They're read of all men.

And these people that we've been listening to, I remember them as boys and girls. They're young men and women now. But I'll tell you something.

Jesus Christ really got into their hearts, and He has made a difference in their lives. And I believe that they have gone forth from this place, and like living letters, they've been read of all men. Men have been reading their lives.

I want to tell you, that makes it worth it all. Those of us that have sought to serve the Lord in some little way, in a Sunday school class, the Awana program, ways of encouragement, all those hours of visitation, sometimes offering a word of encouragement, comfort along the way, all the things that you've said, that's our reward for what we've done. I thank God for it.

That steadfastness. I heard that word mentioned this morning somewhere along the way. Maybe it was Brian who made mention of that word, steadfast.

That's what you look for in the life of a person that says he knows Jesus Christ. Does he go on? Is it real? Can you see Christ in that person's life? These have gone on well for the Lord, and it's something to rejoice about. We have been rejoicing.

Our prayers go with you, all of you, wherever you are. We remember you, and we'd like to think that you remember us, those of us that are still here. I think you'll have to do it every year, because as Gene mentioned, we wait 25 more years.

Gene and I probably won't be here. So let's make it an annual affair. We'll have to have the planning committee look at that one real hard, and maybe next year about this time you'll get another invitation.

Northgate Chapel, our annual get-together. For all of those that are a part of this fellowship and over the years have visited, listened to the Word of God, this is the only book we've got at Northgate Chapel. It's the Bible, the Word of God.

I heard that over and over again. Lewis Chalmers saying, you know, the things that he remembered about his faith being strengthened from the Word of God. He's got his feet on the ground.

All of those verses that he memorized, those that were in that youth program and on the quiz team. You know, God's Word doesn't return void. It's not an empty thing.

It goes deep in the heart, and it's there. It's there to stay, and it's to be drawn upon. It all started with a decision to receive the Lord Jesus.

The Apostle Paul said he wasn't ashamed of the gospel of Christ. It was a power of God unto salvation to everyone that believed it. I'm so thankful that the early church, it says again that word steadfast.

They continued steadfastly in the apostles' teaching, doctrine, fellowship of breaking of bread and prayer. We're not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ at Northgate Chapel. We're not ashamed of what this book, the Word of God, teaches.

It's our instruction book. It's our handbook. It's the Word of God.

We don't worship the book, but we worship the God and the Savior that's presented in this book. And I've been encouraged yesterday, last evening, today, and some more even this evening. Reminders of God's faithfulness.

We sowed some seeds. We did some watering, and God gave the increase. The fruit of our labor at Northgate Chapel, these young people, and you, all of you that have come back.

If we served you in some way for the glory and honor of our Lord Jesus Christ, you've been rewarded. You've grown in grace and knowledge of Christ. We've been repaid.

That's the bottom line. So, some more of this this evening, 630. I tell you, that Bob is a whiz.

All of the things that he and some of the others, and I don't know all that were involved. He's been more prominent than anyone else. Of course, Maxine, you couldn't forget her.

Even this morning, at the back, she said she was out of breath. It amazes you, though, she could still talk. Still talking.

She's talking for the Lord. That's all right. Before Bob leads us in a closing hymn, or a song, or chorus, whatever he has, let's just bow and give thanks and praise to the Lord for this occasion.

Our Heavenly Father, we do come in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we were the psalmists who would praise thee, O God, for your goodness to us. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. We're so thankful today that we've had some little part in serving you, and serving the cause of Christ in the world.

These dear souls, young men and women, that have received Christ, they've grown, they have families, they are perpetuating in this world that faith in Jesus Christ through their own testimonies and through the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We thank thee for it. We pray thy blessing upon this company of people this morning.

Do continue to speak to hearts, save souls, O save those that are on that broad road that leads to destruction, O our God. We have just a deep sense of sadness for those that are still in this world without Christ. We thank thee for those today that have received Christ, and they're going on.

For those that perhaps life is difficult for them, some are experiencing deep trial and testing.
