Make your plans large and I hear pastors of you know testifying of moves of God in the cities and I love that and we I love this move of God and I love what's going on but every time we hear something I'm going God that's wonderful but there's more Jesus there's more Jesus and it's not it's not that you're not thankful for what God is doing but you know friend who he is we're in tune we're tapped into the one who created it all and I am a firm believer that if he wanted to if he wanted to in a split second he could melt a city and it could be commonplace as this one shared a few minutes ago it could be commonplace a Lindell shared this that evangelism is is is just something that if people come up to you just asking questions like what must I do to be saved I have shared with this congregation I'm longing for the day that while we're worshiping in here while we're having service the police come storming in and and they're there they have the look of fear and and fright on their face because people all over the city have fallen on their faces and in the malls and in the restaurants people are moaning and groaning and they don't know what to do they come running in here asking questions and I know we all know everybody the this this revival is on everyone's lips across the city and it's in the malls it's in the restaurants people are wailing and moaning and groaning what must we do what do we do Fred how many believe that can happen you gotta believe it can happen friend before we're seated this evening I want us to pray the prayer we've been praying since Father's Day of 95 we're very simple people in touch with an awesome powerful God and if you're here and you're intellectual and you just your mind seems to take preeminence and and when it comes to for example a miracle someone comes with cancer and automatically you've been to analytically scope out the situation and you go God can't do that God's not going to do this because your mind has raced into high gear some of you know exactly what I'm talking about or you're pastoring in a city and things have never moved on it's never been great it's never God's never going to do your mind begins analyzing it and you know it's just not going to happen friend we're worms we're nothing for in God's everything he is everything tonight we're gonna pray a simple prayer those of you that battle with the mind the Bible says lean not to your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path everywhere we go in this revival when we get a chance every now and then to do some open meetings for pastors and all and it's amazing all I hear from pastors is I would never have believed I can't believe this we've seen lines of cars three miles long trying to get into meetings in America in America hundreds and hundreds racing to the altar to get saved friend we're gonna pray this prayer right now you're gonna say dear Jesus speak to my heart change my life we're gonna pray a simple prayer regardless of your age if you're 7 or 77 man woman boy grandpa granddad it doesn't make difference who you are if you're pastoring a church of 20,000 or 20 if you're a layman if you're a person in here you don't know God you hate God you don't you hate me you hate this revival you hate Lyndall Cooley you want to get out of here I want you to pray this prayer I want everyone to pray this prayer those of you in overflow I want you to pray with this prayer those of you at home I want you to pray this prayer everyone right now out loud dear Jesus speak to my heart change my life in your precious name amen you may be seated I hope you've come to receive how many have come to receive a word to those of you in this room that don't know the Lord those of you that have come and you're just really not sure about what's going on let me explain something to you that I explained to a young man a few minutes ago before the church service started that God is on the move the Lord is causing a famine in the land he has sent the famine I believe this is a direct result of Amos his prophecy I believe he saw it 800 years before the birth of Christ that in these last days there's gonna be something that takes place friend and it has to do with a famine in the land the Lord is drying up the watering holes of the world nothing satisfies anymore it would not surprise me pastor that we see in a newspaper Madonna on her face asking Jesus Christ to come into her life that would not surprise me it would not surprise me anymore after what we have seen we've seen multi millionaires in this place down the street beggars getting saved politicians we've seen federal judges governor's families come through this revival we've seen it friend it would not surprise me it would not surprise me if they cleared an area out in front of this building and landed the helicopter from the White House that would not surprise me friend that would not surprise me you want to know why because God is sending the famine and people can't sleep at night they're they're exhausted with life they're sick and tired of everything no religion satisfies the cults are there people in the cults are saying wait a minute this is not real nothing's happening we have witches and warlocks cult members that come all the time Buddhists and Muslims and Jews get saved in this place it's amazing friend nothing satisfies but Jesus he's the only one that will fill your soul he's the only one that'll make you happy he's the only one that'll change your life he's here tonight I want to do something that I haven't done in quite a while in the revival but I believe I'm supposed to do it tonight some of you need to make up your mind that you want revival I'm speaking forgive me for those of you that don't know the Lord and don't know what revival is you don't know nothing just bear with me for a minute because there's some pastors here and lay people here that you're not sure if you want revival it's time for you to make up your mind it's time for you to make up your mind I tell you if you don't want revival God will pass you by he won't he won't think twice about it friend I can take you across America and show you the dried-up plants the dried-up churches that the Lord they had the opportunity of a lifetime and Leonard Ravenhill used to share with me the opportunity of a lifetime must be seized during the lifetime of the opportunity he said Steve when God is moving move with God and some of you some of you in this room you haven't decided you really don't know if you want revival it may have to do with the cost revival will cost what revival will wear you out friend how many know what I'm talking about but one of the reasons some of you don't want revival is because of the criticism that comes with it you can't stand criticism you're weak you you you have no spine you have no backbone as soon as you're the type of person that when you go out evangelizing and talk to something about Jesus if they cross you or say something negative to you you clam up you you crawl back into your shell you just you're sort of ashamed of everything and you're you're when it comes to revival if a manifestation starts to take place in your church or somebody falls somebody shakes something goes on that's strange and you're just afraid sister so-and-so or brother Deacon will stand up and come against you or someone across town maybe you're from a very highfalutin church and someone across town will make a comment maybe put it in the morning tell a morning paper maybe write a little article against your church you've read them before little blast you know when they have the open opinion columns a little blast against your church about all the stuff that's going on over there and you can't handle it you're so prideful you're so full of self you're so arrogant I'm telling you friend the reason I'm saying this right now is because my concern is for America see I want America to be saved and the only way America is going to get saved if we would get out of the way and let God move in our churches the way he wants to move in our churches that's the only way Charlie I want you to bring that cane I preached a message in this place several months ago entitled white cane religion and I haven't done this in quite a while but I wanted to do it tonight because God is speaking to some of you I preached a message entitled white cane religion from the scripture can the blind lead the blind will they not both fall into a ditch and what's happening today friend and I'm begging you to become strong Paul said act like man you know I have a I have a nine-year-old boy and and and sometimes we'll get together just as a dad and a son and I'll go just you and me son we're the men of the house and you can just see him well up and we'll walk around the yard together you know and he starts acting like a young man he suddenly the toys are gone and now he's walking around with dad and he'll do dad like chores because I said son act like a man be strong stand erect you know and this is a time for some of you to begin standing up and and and whatever you believe in stand strong in that look people in the face and I'm warning you tonight and in that message I warn folks first of all I said this that everybody is following somebody everybody's sinner drug addict everybody's following somebody atheist agnostic everybody's following somebody say no no no I'm a I'm a I'm an atheist and I'm not following nobody yeah you are you from that whole group and when you get together you talk about anti God stuff you're following somebody I'm non-denominational ain't following nobody no you are you're a denomination itself and it's called the non-denominational denomination it's all them people out there that aren't part of a denomination everybody's following somebody friend my second point in that message was this make sure the one you're following knows where they're going and that's a scary part because we are following people today like blind men we're following people like sheep to a slaughter it's because Pastor Joe or Evangelist Bill or so-and-so he's always been a good man surely he's got a touch of God on his life friend just because a man had a touch of God in 1970 doesn't mean he has a touch of God in 1997 I'm not picking on anybody friend I'm telling you the truth I'm telling you the truth in these last days you're gonna see a repeat of history you're gonna see friend what happened today and in the next few years you're gonna see an increase in all of this the little criticism that Mike read that's baby stuff that's baby stuff that's pablum these little people on the email and write them back let them know there's great testimonies but there's other folks out there they're trying to raise money to get on the airwaves and as soon as your church pastor begins moving in revival I can guarantee it somebody's gonna come up against you and it could be the pastor of the largest church in the city and it could be the next time you go to Morrison's or Denny's or Shoney's people are gonna look at you and they're gonna start talking under their breath like that and they're gonna be pointing at you as the one in town well weird things are going on that strange church over there how many of you want to be known as that strange church over there I want to be known as that strange church over there I want to be known Hallelujah Hallelujah but be careful be careful friend because there's people out there and I'm warning you ahead of time so you're not taken by surprise when you read it there are publishing companies even today they're on the press books that are anti revival anything that moves they'll shoot down I want to tell you one of the reasons for that it's big money as long as there's a revival somewhere they're gonna make some money because there's a bunch of disgruntled people out there that don't want revival they're gonna buy the books so friend make sure the one you're listening to make sure the one you're following knows where they're going make sure they got a fresh touch of God when I listen to this man from Hope Arkansas dear God you got hope in your church brother where are you I look at that and I don't hear a dead church a dead pastor I hear a pastor that's alive the church is alive it's going after God but pastor I can guarantee you within a 15 mile radius of your church there's scores of ministerial individuals peers that are anti you make sure the one you're following knows where they're going friend because just as in the days of old there are folks that have a touch of God on their lives but they don't have a move of God right now in their lives they talk about what it was back then but they don't know what it is right now they missed a touch of God friend and you watch what's going to happen friend it's going to be the same as in days of old they came against Wesley they came against Whitfield they came against Jonathan Edwards they came against Charles Finney they came against DL Moody they came against the Azusa Street revival anything that breathed and moved people came against I'm not talking about the world I've never had a problem with the world yeah talk to the sinners in this city about the Brownsville revival I've talked to sinners in this city they'll say to me that's awesome what's going on over there man I got haven't gotten saved yet bunch of my friends have gotten saved man that's awesome what's going they'll have a Miller in her hand you know drinking the Miller that's awesome what's going on over that's real man that's real stuff going on over there you know I was at the mall I was at the mall one day this man comes up me goes you Steve Hill said I'm Steve Hill he goes I'm coming to your revival to get saved tonight and I I said what cuz I never heard that I'm sorry maybe you have but I've never heard that I'm coming to your revival to get saved tonight I said let me understand something here you're not saved he goes no man I'm into drugs and alcohol everything and I said you're coming to my revival the revival it's not mine but this revival to get saved he said all my friends have gotten saved but you can have thousands of testimonies like that and we do friend they're all over this building and in the youth chapel tonight they're everywhere but there'll be other folks in town friend man alive they'll come against you pastor they'll go that ain't God that old man he never got saved you just I want to know where he's at 15 years from now you ever heard that person's been saved a week they want to know where they're at 15 years from it I'm happy they've been saved a week I don't know about you hallelujah but here they come friend the opponents of Jesus opponents of revival and they're really what they feel like they are you know it's God's soldiers you know keeping keeping the church holy but let me just warn you ahead of time and I'm gonna move off of this this is for you friend it's gonna happen again if I brought Whitfield here if we could bring him here bring Wesley you know what Wesley would say if we ask Wesley that if we ask Wesley this question how can you did so much preaching in the open air you know what he would say what that's a Methodist because they wouldn't allow him inside the church why that was a church of the day friend they said get that man out of here that's the most ungodly thing I've ever seen in my life what kind of talk is that you're being saved what are you talking about look at friend so what did he do preached in the streets what did he do I don't know not much just changed the nation that's all he did just turned the whole nation around but you want to know something the man had backbone the man had guts Whitfield had guts Edwards had guts have a little guts friend stand up for what you believe when the Azusa Street Revival broke out so many people came against William Seymour that poor one-eyed black man that had a milk crate as a pulpit he was just going after God that's all he was doing but across the Atlantic there was people bellowing out and all over America for sure but across the Atlantic people were blasting though William Seymour most of the time it's people that have never been to the revival but here's G. Campbell Morgan how many are familiar with G. Campbell Morgan pastors I love him dearly I've got his books in my library and I refer to him he's a great Bible expositor dead and gone matter of fact he's up right now in heaven I'll tell you where he's at right in just a minute but G. Campbell Morgan G. Campbell Morgan looked across the waves at Azusa Street and he pointed his finger at him and it was a move of God friend a move of God people will be in touch from all over the world and he tapped his cane he pointed his finger through his spectacles and he said this that that's going on in California is the last vomit of Satan stay away I want to tell you friend he missed God was he a man of God yes he was did he miss God of course he did everyone knows he missed God and today they're probably right now laying out the tablecloths for the marriage supper of the Lamb and maybe even just because there's no time up there maybe maybe they're starting to usher in all the people you know when you get there you'll have a great seat but maybe they're beginning to fill up all these tables and I bet G. Campbell Morgan oh God sent him right across from William Seymour what affects me friend is the fact that how many people could G. Campbell Morgan have sent to the Azusa Street revival he could have sent thousands and thousands of pastors have pointed him in that direction and said go get more from God I'm not gonna stop you if that's God go after God with all your heart he'll give you discernment but go after God don't get on your face pray all night with those people get sweaty in that old hot building go after God friend but he didn't do that I wonder how many millions did not receive Christ because thousands of others that were leaders did not go after God it's a chain R.A. Torrey said that Azusa is emphatically not of God pastors I'm talking about some of our spiritual leaders H.A. Ironside said it's disgusting delusions insanities exhibitions worthy of a madhouse stay away from LA friend make sure the one you're following knows where they're going and I beg of you pastors those of you pastors here that you've had dear friends for years you know you've been ministerial associates and just you love one another but they're moving in a different direction you're going after this revival they're moving in a different direction for the sake of friendship some of you for the sake of friendship will allow the Holy Spirit just move off you'll cool off for the sake of a friend for the sake of a friend because he's been a friend 18 years and you've been golfing buddies and you just don't really want to sever that friendship and for the sake of that friendship he's pulling you into his camp friend you're playing with fire you might gain your friend back friend but the doves gonna fly the doves gonna fly make sure and I close with this last illustration friend I was in the Argentine revival for seven years those of you that are in Brazil where there were friends from Brazil God bless y'all from Brazil they know what happened in Argentina for seven years of power of God came down we were right in the middle of it we were planting churches we were watching the souls one of our churches went from like two people to 10,000 in two years we watched it with our eyes we saw the drug addicts the alcoholics getting saved and within that country there were pastors as churches were blossoming down the street there were pastors saying this it's not of God today years later they're still saying the same thing and some churches are in the 5,000 7,000 members and they had 100 and 200 members friend in America one of the most noted evangelists in this nation said to me personally before I left for Argentina he said that Argentine revival is nothing Steve it's very shallow don't even think twice about it thank God I didn't listen to him thank God that Argentine revival is nothing Steve don't think anything of it friend make sure the one you're following knows where they're going well and everybody said okay okay it's easy to say right here friend but I want to tell you when persecution comes when hard times come when your name appears in the local paper it's not favorable your little defamation of character you know and you are in the restaurants and they are talking about you that's a whole different story it's easy to say it in this atmosphere people look at 19 20 months of revival and they go man you guys this is awesome we fought the fight friend we're still fighting the fight we went through the period at the beginning where people were cursing it we were here friend all the way through it we were just watching the souls get saved everywhere and within a mile from here there would be people cursing the revival cursing it saying it's not of God now most all the critics are gone seriously friend what you hear is peanuts why how do you fight something like this I take it from a plumber that came a plumber came to fix our bathroom plumbing here now in Alabama and and he came to the he came to the house and and he saw me didn't know I was one he was coming to he said you're the evangelist over there at the Brownsville revival I said yeah who are you and he goes I'm so-and-so and he said I'm a Southern Baptist he said our pastor talked against your revival he told us not not none of us to go that he said my mama listen he said my mama she loves our pastor but my mama had cancer and I remember he said when my mama turned to us at the dinner table and said to my dad honey I'm going to Brownsville and my dad said honey you know our pastor has told us not to go over there she said this is what she said at the dinner table honey our pastor doesn't have cancer and I'm not against you know don't don't misquote me please friend but you know the illustration this is a true story what do you do what do you do she came over here he told me the story he said in one night she was totally healed of cancer and now everywhere she goes and he said from there he said from that my pastor doesn't talk bad about that revival no more he won't mention it from the pulpit because he knows my mama he knows he knows my mama hallelujah I felt this just a few minutes ago there's some folks in this room that are in serious shape you're in bad shape friend spiritually Holy Spirit I asked you tonight to drop the blinders from their eyes Lord the religious blinders that are up where they think everything's okay but you know that they're racing towards judgment Jesus you know that they don't know you you see the facade Jesus you see right through it Holy Spirit let the blinders fall tonight and may they see themselves for who they really are for those in this room Lord that have never known you those in this room Jesus that have never known you as a personal Savior that have a thousand questions with no answers those in this room Lord that have never bowed their knee to you Jesus I pray Holy Spirit that tonight you would convict their hearts you would cause them Lord God to melt in your presence I pray Holy Spirit tonight sweet Jesus Heavenly Father for those in this room that are backslidden those in this room that have lost the touch of God in their lives those in this room that are away from you Jesus I pray that tonight they would melt they would melt Jesus they would open up their lives give their hearts to you Lord give their lives back to you Jesus they would repent I ask of you tonight sweet Jesus I beg of you Jesus give me their souls tonight Jesus tonight we don't have another day Jesus all we have is now today is the day of salvation behold now is the time do it Jesus tonight do it Jesus tonight do it Jesus do it Jesus just gonna talk to you for a minute look at me I've got a prepared message in this notebook but I will not preach it unless the Lord tells me to preach some of you in this room have lost your desire for God you've lost your spiritual appetite you've lost your hunger for God maybe you can remember back friend when when you thought about God all the time maybe you can remember back when the things of God were foremost in your mind maybe you can remember back when talking about Jesus or talking about godly things and holy things and Bible studies and and scripture analysis and scripture memory was a foremost thing in your mind witnessing evangelizing talking to somebody about Jesus was everything to you but now something's happened your appetite has weaned and you've lost it you've lost your desire for God friend I want to tell you where you're at friend don't call it by any other name that's a backslidden condition but you don't know what I'm going through friend you cannot blame anything on anything friend quit passing the buck quit blaming everything on something else well I went through a bad marriage well I went through this well I went through that friend we all go through things that's not reason to backslide that's not reason to give up on God that's not and I'm speaking from a man we've gone through heartache we've gone through trials we've gone through tribulation and we will go through more but that doesn't mean friend you give up on God but you have lost your spiritual appetite you've given up on the things of God friend you are in a backslidden condition those of you in an overflow room I want you to listen to me the Holy Ghost is there just like he's right here in this room those of you at home I want you to listen to this preacher he is in that room the Spirit of God is in your living room just like he's here and I'm speaking to a man you are in a red chair as a matter of fact it's got a it's an older red chair and it's got a wooden crank on the side of it it's an old lazy boy chair you're sitting in that chair that things made of tweed and it's got black speckles in it I can see your chair sir and you are so backslid it's scary somebody gave you this video somebody gave you this program and told you to watch it friend I want to tell you something right now this is not just another video this is not just a program this is Almighty God coming into your life one more time one more time he's gonna speak to you he's gonna speak to you tonight he's gonna speak to you sir the excuses are over no more excuses it's time to get right with God in this room it's time to get right with God it's time for you to get right with God you've lost your spiritual appetite others of you in this room you may be asking tonight even now I don't know what Mike Brown preached on last night we preach every night friend on what God lays on our heart in this place I preached enough messages friend I don't have to prove anything to anybody I don't have to prove nothing to nobody we have some of the greatest theologians come through this place and friend I'm not here to impress you I'm here to speak to your heart speak to my heart change my life what good is it for some of you to have memorized the book of Hebrews you've memorized the book of John you can quote verbatim the book of Acts you can teach Jeremiah you can teach Ezekiel you can teach dear God the book of Revelation from front to back back to front but you don't have a touch of God in your life you don't have Jesus what good is all that friend those days are gone friend what Jesus is looking for is a heart that's after him he's looking for somebody that wants him he's looking for someone who will worship him in spirit and in truth I'm hearing across America of our institutes our Bible schools getting on fire for God you want to know what's happening professors are falling on their face they're saying we've had them theological institutes coming in here theological seminaries have come in here it's awesome to watch them they bust up students they bust them up they fill up the buses and bust them down to revival and just dump them all in this place they're so sick and tired of education you want an education you want an education get a touch from Jesus that's the education you need that's all you need those of you that got to have a scripture because you're a note taker where's that found now is a time today is a day quick Mike first Corinthians second Corinthians chapter 6 verse 1 look it up make sure the theologians right over there is he right I preached one night in this revival friend on the word now in OW it's all through the word you know what it means now it means now it means come to Jesus now it means get right with God now not tomorrow not yesterday not in three days not after you think about it it's now today is a friend to get your life right with God I'm concerned can you feel it I am concerned for your friend I'm concerned another sure sign for some of you that you're in a pitiful shape is this you grow worldly and your actions and desires worldly you know what that is you you consume more of the world more of the things of this world than you do Jesus this pastor that stood up a few minutes ago and he says I wake up in the morning with Jesus on my lips I go to sleep at night with Jesus on my lips I eat drink and breathe Jesus that is a person on fire for God but a person that is not on fire for God friend it's always around something else always around you go to their homes friend and I tell I tell folks this in this revival you can go to my house and this is not bragging friend it's just fact and walk from one end to the other you can go through every drawer you can go through every ever you can look under the beds between the mattresses you can go through every closet you can go in the attic you can look everywhere in my house you're not going to find anything that grieves God there's nothing there friend it's clean the house is totally clean but a person who's backslid will have little things tucked here and there you go through the house and you might find some good Christian videos but then you'll find an R-rated one right underneath there you have a few PG-13s that got vile language and and some some some sexual intercourse in there and and and a little of this and a little of that you'll see that tucked in and maybe late into the night when the kids are asleep there it goes on in the in the in the VCR or maybe you don't even do that maybe you wouldn't dare have them in your house you just watch television you'll just watch it later than night when no one's watching or maybe you'd never do that in your house you'll do it at a friend's house friend that's a backslidden man it's a backslidden man this bothers people I can tell it right now some of you won't look at me no more you don't want to look at me no more but I honestly pastor honestly friend layman whoever you might be here tonight I can't imagine sitting in my living room listening to curse words flowing from that screen GD this GD that and all these words floating around my living room I can't imagine that and then going to church and saying I love you Lord and I lift my voice it doesn't compute I can't imagine ma'am I can't imagine sir watching a movie and a scene comes on where clothes start to drop off and you know what's about to happen the music portrays everything portrays here comes the catch here comes the hook that hooks the people this is what they rented this thing for this is why they're watching this they know it's in here and I can't imagine you watching that allowing that to go into your heart into your mind into your spirit and you wonder why you have a lustful spirit you wonder why you wake up at night having dreams some illicit dream or you're always thinking about other women or other men friend you are consuming it upon yourself now by the way I was going to preach on Jonah tonight I'm telling you friend this is from the Lord tonight I've got a complete message here on from the book of Jonah it wasn't going this direction at all I'm not doing this because I want to do it I'm doing it because it's a command of the Lord tonight it's a command of the Lord another concern for those of us in the ministry when we see a backslid person one of the sure signs friend is that person becomes less affected less troubled by sin less troubled by sin young people I want you to listen to me there's a bunch of you here there's about six or seven hundred across the street but a bunch of you here you're not troubled by sin little things like being in the bathroom at school and some kids telling a filthy joke and it doesn't grieve you as a matter of fact when they look over at you you chuckle and you call yourself a Christian quit calling yourself a Christian friend call yourself a heathen you're damaging the church you are bringing damage to the church you're the reason that I didn't get saved for years because I never met people that were on fire for God I met people in my pot circles who would sit there and smoke dope on Saturday night they'd be passing the joint and then they'd get up and I'd say where you going they go I gotta go home why I got church in the morning I'm telling you the truth at school they would be hanging out in the smoking court they would be hanging out with us yet they'd be at first Baptist that Sunday morning first assembly that Sunday morning you're not troubled about sin anymore the little things don't bother you anymore friend the little things someone once said love is made up of little things and destroyed by little things and that's what caused you to backslide friend is the little things they slipped in now some of you are not looking at me no more man you were smiling a few minutes ago you're an unhappy camper right now but I want to tell you what this message is I don't know what Mike preached on last night I really don't but I want to tell you what this is this is the same as a doctor if you came into a doctor's office and he laid you out on the bed and he starts poking you saying does that hurt does that hurt does that hurt oh there's the problem and what do you do you don't curse the doctor for that you pay him you pay the doctor why he's there to make you well but he's bringing pain on your body yeah but you know in the end things are gonna be okay and that's a job of a preacher in the end things are gonna be okay but you've gotta see the root of the problem first so the little things don't bother you anymore you remember backslider back when the things the little things drove you crazy the little sins bothered you they grieved your spirit when you got around these things you saw people do this you heard people say that you you you saw this with your eyes you remember how it grieved you maybe sir you were delivered from all kinds of garbage in the world and you lived a holy life and you would see a playboy or a penthouse a magazine you turn your head and walk away because it grieved you but now you've been sucked back into that stuff your backslid friend quit calling it a hard time in your life quit calling it a low time quit calling it I'm gonna get right one day quit calling it any of that friend
