Worse Than Sodomy!

Rejecting Christ's offers of grace and mercy is worse than any sin, including sodomy, and will lead to severe punishments on the day of judgment.
Thomas Brooks emphasizes the severity of rejecting Christ and His gospel, arguing that such contempt is worse than the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. He warns that those who refuse to accept God's grace and mercy will face far greater judgments than the destruction of those ancient cities. Brooks highlights the eternal consequences of disbelief, asserting that the punishments awaiting gospel-despisers will be far more severe than the historical punishments of Sodom. He uses scripture to illustrate the gravity of rejecting the Son of God, reminding listeners of the dire fate that awaits those who turn away from His offers of salvation.

Text

"If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words,

shake the dust off your feet when you leave that house

or town. I assure you: It will be more tolerable on the

day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah

than for that town." Matthew 10:14-15

Sodom and Gomorrah shall have an easier and cooler

hell than such shall have--who have despised the offers

of His grace, and the offers of His mercy. Contempt of

Christ and His gospel--is worse than sodomy!

"Then the Lord rained down fire and burning sulfur from

the heavens on Sodom and Gomorrah!" Genesis 19:24

The punishments of Sodom and Gomorrah, are but scratches

on the hand, and flea-bitings--compared to those dreadful and

astonishing judgments which God, in the great day of account,

will inflict upon all Christ-refusers and gospel-despisers!

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever

rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on

him." John 3:36
