θυμιάω. For this NT ἅπ. εἰρ. (Lk 1°) see ΟΟ 75 3525? (ii/B.c.) καὶ σ[τε]φα[νοῦν τὸ ἄγαλμα τὸ τοῦ βασιλέως] Kal θυμιᾶν κ[αὶ] δᾶιδα ἱστάνειν. Hobart (p. 90f.) has shown that the verb, which survives in ΜΟΥ as θυμιάζω, was the medical term for fumigating with herbs, spices, etc.
