From the immediate context of REV 5:1 it is not possible to determine whether the scroll in question had seven seals on the outside or whether the scroll was sealed at seven different points. However, since according to chapter six of Revelation the seals were broken one after another, it would appear as though the scroll had been sealed at seven different places as it had been rolled up.

κατασφραγίζω is found és in the unfortunately very fragmentary report of a professional searcher for stolen goods, P Petr III. 65 (4)®18, Cf. P Par 35" (B.C. 163) κ]αὶ τοῦτον (sc. σταμνὸν) κατασφραγισάμενος : the verb παρασφραγίζω occurs ὁξς in the same document. See also PSI IV. 3588 (B.c. 252-1) ὃ κατεσφράγισται ἐν κυψάληι (‘‘chest’’) ἐν τῷ σιτοβολῶνι (‘ storehouse,” cf. Gen 4188) ἀρτάβαι δέκα. With the use in Rev 51 cf.
