ὅθεν, ““whence ” of place, as in Mt 125} a/., may be illustrated from the interesting letter, P Lond 8547 (i/ii a.p.: cf. Deissmann ZAZ p. 162) (= III. p. 206), in which a traveller describes his visit to the spot—8ev τ[υγ]χάνει Νεῖλος ῥέων, “whence the Nile flows out.” For the inferential ὅθεν, ‘‘ wherefore,” ‘‘on which account,” as in Heb 217, 1 Jn 218, cf. P Tor I. r@4(B.c. 116) ὅθεν ἐν τῶι αὐτῶι ἔτει τοῖς ἐν τῆι Θηβαΐδι χρηματισταῖς ἐνέβαλον ἔντευξιν, BGU III. 731%!
