ὁσίως. P Lond 2111 (n.c. 162) (=I. p. 13) σὺ δὲ dy πρὸς τὸ θεῖον ὁσίως διακείμενος Kal οὐ βουλόμενος παραβῆναί τι τῶν ἐν τῶι ἱερῶι ἐπηγγελμένων. The combination with δικαίως, as in 1 Thess 279, is common, 6.5. P Par 63 vit 18 (8.6. 164) where the writer claims—éy@ yap πιστεύσας σοί τε καὶ τοῖς θεοῖς, πρὸς ols ὁσίως καὶ . . δικαίως [πολι]τευσάμενος ἐμαυτὸν ἀμεμψιμοίρητον παρέσχημαι, and, from the inscrr., Price 46! (i/B.c.) evo[e]BO[s μὲν πρὸς τοὺς πατρίους] θεούς, ὁσίως δὲ καὶ δικαίως πίρὸς τοὺς ἀνθρώπους.

ὁσίως (hosiōs) — devoutly. Included with: ὅσι-ος, α, ον, also ος, ον [Refs 5th c.BC+]:— hallowed, i. e. sanctioned or allowed by the law of God or of nature, δίκη [Refs 6th c.BC+]; οὐχ ὅ. unhallowed, ὕβρις [Refs 5th c.BC+] —The sense of ὅσιος often depends on its relation on the one hand to δίκαιος (sanctioned by human law), on the other to ἱερός (sacred to the gods):
1. opposed to δίκαιος, sanctioned by divine law, hallowed, holy (μόριον τοῦ δικαίου τὸ ὅ.
