lit. bring in from the side, hence introduce ( 2Pe_2:1 ) : cf. P Tor I. 1 viii. 4 (B.C. 116) προεφέρετο ἀλλότριον εἶναι τὸ παρεισαγόμενον ὑπ᾽ αὐτοῦ , where παρα - does not convey any idea of secrecy or stealth, cf. s.v. παρεισφέρω . This applies also to the verb in Aristeas 20 εἴ τινες προῆσαν ἢ μετὰ ταῦτα παρεισήχθησαν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν , any who were there before or had since been introduced into the kingdom (Thackeray), and in Apol. Aristides 8.
