Moulton & Milligan — Vocabulary of the Greek NT

προσπορεύομαι [page 550] come near, approach, is now read by Crφnert and Wilcken (see Berichtigungen , p. 126) in P Eleph 18 .5 (B.C. 223 22) προσπο [ρε ]ύονται ἀγοράζοντες κτλ . : cf. P Magd 27 .6 (B.C. 218) μὴ ἐπιτρέπηι προσπορεύεσθαι , P Par 50 .3 (B.C. 159) (= UPZ i. p. 365) Ἀπολλώνιον εἶδον , προσπορεύεταί μοι , P Amh II. 33 .17 ( c. B.C. 157) τοὺς προσπορευομένους συνηγόρους πρὸς τὰς προσοδικὰς κρίσεις , advocates who take up revenue cases (Edd.), and from the inscrr. Syll 177 (= .3 344) .112 ( c. B.C. 303) διὰ τὸ τὰ ἐκ τῶν προσόδων γινόμενα κατὰ χρόνους προσπορεύ [εσθαι ὑμῖν μακροτέρους . In the NT the verb is used only in Mar_10:35 , and is one of many exx. of this writer s preference for compounds of πορεύομαι : indeed, except in Mar_9:30 , he does not use the simple verb at all. As Mark s Greek culture was manifestly small, Harnack s thesis in his Sayings of Jesus as to the connexion between culture and compound verbs cannot pass unchallenged : see further Exp. VII. vii. p. 411 f.

STEPBible — Tyndale Abridged Greek Lexicon

προσ-πορεύομαι [in LXX for קָרַב, נָגַשׁ, etc. ;] to come near, approach: with dative of person(s), Mrk.10:35.† (AS)
