to grow together with to grow together with, in reference to plants In rendering συναυξάνομαι (23.192) and συμφύομαι, it is important to avoid an expression which will imply that two plants grew together to become a single plant. The meaning is that two or more plants grew in the same general area and at approximately the same time.

συνφύω ‘acting the proper part towards each.” But a different meaning has been found in Polyb. iii. 92. 5, where it is said of Fabius Cunctator that (having no intention of giving battle) συνυπεκρίνετο τοῖς προθύμως καὶ φιλοκινδύνως διακειμένοις, ‘he pretended to agree with the eager and adventurous spirits.” This makes good sense in Gal 215: the other Jews ‘‘pretended to agree with Peter,” though they really did not.
