1 MAT 9:10 It is possible, of course, to understand συνανάκειμαι in MAT 9:10 as denoting merely the fact of eating together. However, in NT contexts such as this, the meaning appears to involve more than the mere fact of eating together; it is the association symbolized by eating together which is crucial and therefore constitutes the focal component of meaning.
