Being The Light

5 sermons

In a world often shrouded in darkness, the call to be the light shines brightly throughout Scripture. Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount, instructs His followers to let their light shine before others, so that they may see their good works and glorify the Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). This profound teaching emphasizes that believers are not merely recipients of light but are called to reflect it in their daily lives. The Apostle Paul echoes this sentiment in Ephesians 5:8, where he reminds the church that they were once darkness, but now are light in the Lord, urging them to walk as children of light. Furthermore, in John 8:12, Jesus proclaims, "I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." This declaration not only affirms His divine nature but also sets the standard for His disciples. As believers embody the light of Christ, they become beacons of hope, much like the lighthouse described in Isaiah 42:6, where God appoints His servants to be a light for the nations. Ultimately, being the light is a divine mandate, inviting believers to shine brightly in a world longing for hope and truth.
