Holy Zeal

2 sermons

Holy zeal is a fervent passion and commitment to God’s glory and His purposes, as exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ. In John 2:17, we see Jesus displaying righteous anger and zeal for His Father’s house, declaring, "Zeal for your house will consume me." This fervor is not merely an emotional response but a deep-seated conviction that drives believers to act in accordance with God’s will. Romans 12:11 encourages Christians to "never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord," highlighting the importance of maintaining an enthusiastic devotion to God in all aspects of life. Additionally, in Galatians 4:18, Paul expresses that it is good to be zealous, provided that the zeal is directed towards what is good and true. Holy zeal compels believers to pursue holiness, as seen in 1 Peter 1:15-16, where we are called to be holy as God is holy. Furthermore, in Titus 2:14, we learn that Christ gave Himself for us to purify a people zealous for good works. Thus, holy zeal is a vital aspect of the Christian faith, urging believers to actively seek and promote the glory of God in their lives and communities.
