Proper Response

1 sermons

A proper response to God's word and His call on our lives is essential for spiritual growth and maturity. The Bible teaches that our reactions to divine instruction and circumstances reflect our understanding of God's sovereignty and grace. In Romans 12:1, Paul urges believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is our true and proper worship. This call to respond is not merely about actions but also about the posture of our hearts. Jesus exemplifies the proper response in Matthew 26:39, where He submits to the Father’s will, demonstrating that true obedience often requires sacrifice and surrender. Furthermore, James 1:22 reminds us to be doers of the word, not merely hearers, highlighting that a proper response involves active engagement with God's teachings. In contrast, an improper response can lead to judgment, as illustrated in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), where failure to act on God's gifts results in loss. Ultimately, a proper response is characterized by faith, obedience, and a willingness to trust in God's plan, as seen in Proverbs 3:5-6, which encourages us to lean not on our own understanding but to acknowledge Him in all our ways.
