Treasuring Christ

1 sermons

Treasuring Christ is at the heart of the Christian faith, inviting believers to place their ultimate value in the person and work of Jesus. In Matthew 6:21, Jesus teaches, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also," emphasizing that true devotion flows from recognizing Christ as our greatest treasure. The Apostle Paul echoes this sentiment in Philippians 3:8, where he states, "I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." This profound understanding leads believers to prioritize their relationship with Christ above all earthly pursuits. Moreover, in Colossians 3:1-2, Paul instructs believers to set their minds on things that are above, where Christ is, reminding us that our identity and hope are rooted in Him. As we treasure Christ, we are transformed, as seen in 2 Corinthians 5:17, which declares, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." Ultimately, treasuring Christ compels us to live out our faith in community, as illustrated in John 12:26, where Jesus promises, "If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also." This call to treasure Christ together fosters a deeper commitment to discipleship and service in His name.
