In Scripture, excessive drinking and drunkenness are condemned as sinful behaviors that can lead to spiritual destruction. The book of Proverbs warns that wine is a mocker and beer a brawler, leading to poverty and sorrow. The apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians, specifically lists drunkards among those who will not inherit the kingdom of God, and also instructs believers not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is a drunkard. Additionally, Galatians and 1 Corinthians emphasize that such behaviors are contrary to the fruit of the Spirit and can exclude one from eternal life.
