In the face of guilt and shame, God's Word offers a path to freedom and restoration. According to 1 John 1:9, confession and repentance lead to forgiveness and cleansing from sin. As believers, we are called to extend the same kindness and compassion to ourselves that God has shown us, as Ephesians 4:32 encourages, and to cast our anxieties on Him, as 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us. Through faith in Christ, we become new creations, as 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 teaches, and are empowered to release the burdens of past mistakes, forgiving ourselves as we have been forgiven, and praying as Jesus taught in Mark 11:25.
