16 Bible Verses on Little Eyes What You See

16 verses

The things we focus on and allow into our minds have a profound impact on our spiritual well-being. According to Matthew 6:22-23, the eye is the lamp of the body, and what we see can either illuminate or darken our inner lives. Philippians 4:8 encourages believers to fix their thoughts on what is noble and pure, while 1 John 2:15-17 warns against the dangers of loving the world and its desires. As Jesus taught in Matthew 5:29, it is sometimes necessary to radically redirect our gaze in order to maintain purity of heart, a principle also reflected in Job's commitment to making a covenant with his eyes, as recorded in Job 31:1.

The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Job 31:1
“I have made a covenant with my eyes. How then could I gaze with desire at a virgin?
I will ponder the way that is blameless— when will You come to me? I will walk in my house with integrity of heart. I will set no worthless thing before my eyes. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will know nothing of evil.
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Ears that hear and eyes that see— the LORD has made them both.
Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life.
I will set no worthless thing before my eyes. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
He who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
A stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty awaits him.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.
