15 Bible Verses on Praying to Mary

15 verses

Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and humanity, emphasizing the importance of direct prayer to Him. The commandment against idolatry in Exodus warns against worshiping or praying to anyone or anything other than the one true God. While Mary, the mother of Jesus, is revered for her faith and obedience, as seen in her song of praise in Luke, the Bible instructs believers to pray to God through Jesus, with the Holy Spirit interceding on their behalf, as described in Romans. The book of Hebrews highlights Jesus' role as the permanent high priest, establishing a direct and eternal connection between believers and God.

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Now there have been many other priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office. But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.
Then Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name. His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful, as He promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants forever.”
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for His name alone is exalted; His splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
So I fell at his feet to worship him. But he told me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who rely on the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it happen to me according to your word.” Then the angel left her.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him. Someone told Him, “Look, Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to You.” But Jesus replied, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?” Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
The sons gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven; they pour out drink offerings to other gods to provoke Me to anger.
With one accord they all continued in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
