In the New Testament, a prominent group of Jewish leaders emerges, known for their theological and philosophical views. According to Acts 23:8 and Matthew 22:23, they denied the resurrection of the dead and the existence of angels and spirits. The Gospels, such as Matthew 3:7, and the book of Acts, including Acts 5:17 and Acts 4:1, portray the Sadducees as frequently opposing Jesus and the apostles, often in collaboration with the Pharisees. Their actions and beliefs are presented as a challenge to the early Christian community, highlighting the tensions between different Jewish sects of the time.

For the Sadducees say that there is neither a resurrection, nor angels, nor spirits, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him.
Then the high priest and all his associates, who belonged to the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They went out
While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,
“Watch out!” Jesus told them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. It is because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial.”
Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven.
Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus and questioned Him: “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother’s widow and raise up offspring for him. Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died, leaving no children. Then the second one married the widow, but he also died and left no children. And the third did likewise. In this way, none of the seven left any children. And last of all, the woman died. In the resurrection, then, whose wife will she be? For all seven were married to her.” Jesus said to them, “Aren’t you mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God? When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Instead, they will be like the angels in heaven. But concerning the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the Book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ ? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”
Then they understood that He was not telling them to beware of the leaven used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
